Majority of bass baits come with garbage hardware regardless of the price, always pays to upgrade the hooks. It’s good to invest in a good hook sharpener too. Coming from a musky background I’m used to sharpening the hooks after pretty much every time I bump against some cover, no idea why most bass guys don’t carry one with them.

Stopped by the local tackle shop yesterday. Got two packs of the new mid size Brush Hogs and a RK Crawler in a new pink caddi color. The guy said when they got the RK Crawlers in they sold out in 25 minutes. All but ten of them were already sold in the shipment they got yesterday. Hope to get to try them out tomorrow. I tried to post pics but my computer is not cooperating.

Never caught a pickerel before, just pike. But I'd put dogfish (bowfin) up there with the meanest son of a b's in the water. You catch one on a spinnerbait and it usually comes back looking like a coat hanger. 

 

Anyhoo, back to the baits. Decided I 'needed' a ghost bluegill (for clearer waters) to go along with my bright bluegill. 

 

I ran into Vito Corleone at the tackle shop yesterday and rather than find a raccoon's head in my bed I came out with a Daiwa Tatula 7'1" ML and a Procyon 2500 CXH for 203.97 combined.  I love those Sicilian guys!

Fathers Day gift arrived today. Lew’s Speed Spin SS20HS. Spooled it with some 8# line and paired it with my Powell Nuisance rod and caught over half a dozen Redbreast Sunfish in a short session. 
 

First impression is this reel reminds me of the old Pflueger President reel I own. Nice reel. Feels solid for a graphite reel. 

Courtesy of the St Croix customer appreciation day sale for my dad. Avid X 7'0" M/M crankbait rod (B stock, discontinued model). I should have gotten one for myself because this thing is sweet.

I also have this reel and have been impressed.  Use it for my bank fishing.  Agree very solid for graphite.

 

 

Within the last 6 days I've picked up a new Dobyns Champion XP 702sf, a new Dobyns Fury 705cb, a new SLX MGL and a used Scorpion XT 1000 w/ box in mint condition. All came from different sources but after tax I still came in at under $500 for everything. Gonna take a break from buying for a while but man it's been a good week ?

This is a thing of beauty. Exactly the taper I was hoping for and super light for the power of the rod, can’t wait to stick some pike and musky on it. I really like a light tip on a swimbait rod and this has exactly the blank I was looking for. Another winner from Loomis. No need to talk about the tranx, best reel in the world for bigger baits and fish, no idea why somebody would get a lexa or Revo beast when you can get a tranx for the same price.

I stopped at the bait store today for no reason. I was tempted for a 2nd Pompadour but saw this Jackall buzz and couldn't resist. Saw these Japanese trailer hooks (hayabusa) they look quality and are super sharp. Have you a Jackall Firecracker @JediAmoeba

I...I...do not.  But I did get a few frogs today.

I purchased a spy bait a few years ago...opened it, threw it in the tackle box and never threw it because I thought it looked stupid.  Last week I tried it out for the first time and caught a fish on the first cast.  So I knew I had to jump into the game and had plans to throw them today off ledges in Nockamixon after looking at graphs and never having been there...showed up to a very dirty lake with 1' visibility and a lot of vegetation.  Lol. At least I stocked up on some spybaits.  I also discovered my frog game was poop, so stopped off and got a few frogs.

 

Not shown in the pictures are 4 terminator spinnerbaits with Oklahoma blades.  Those are getting VERY hard to come by and are IMO, the best blades to switch it up from the standard willow.  

@JediAmoeba So you bought all that today plus 4 Terminators??? I can't keep up lol Oklahoma blades you say, I need up my blade game.

This was the past week - I have been selling off a lot of my other hobbies to make room for some more tackle.  I really enjoy catching fish on new techniques even though I dont get to go fish for biggins much.  I got the spybaits specifically for the lake I was fishing today only to find out they were pretty much worthless.
