Wal mart , 10 for $3 or maybe $2.50

Did someone forget to tell the smallies that those are far too cheap to catch fish?

Yep. And too small to work also.  You’re supposed to pay extra for the ones with the mushroom head so the fish can just snap the hook shank in half

Look what this little panfish ate a few weeks ago @roadwarrior. My buddy throwing bigger baits in the front of the boat got skunked

i think every winter tourney I can remember in this area of late has been won on that soft plastic. It’s simply what they eat (where I live, in winter)

You cannot be frugal with bait, if it ain't lively, throw it away and stick another.

Are you referencing golden shiners with this philosophy? Those things are about 15 bucks for a dozen here…if you can find them. And if you look at them wrong, they die too. Half of them are belly up by the time you get to the lake.

I literally had this happen to me at Lake Norfork back in October. Water was still warm and the bite was super slow. Decided to downsize just to try and find SOME action. Finally found some active panfish on one of the steep walls. Fishing a Bobby Garland baby shad on a road runner head on a 6' Ultralight on 4# test and WHAM. Something hits it like a ton of bricks and bends my rod in half. Sure enough, 3 pound smallie. Talk about a good fight! Little bugger.

Real nice thanks for sharing that.

You hear this and that about how smallies will hit anything. I’m not sure I believe that but am not interested in starting that debate. But as far as my river smallie fishing goes, I’ve caught river smallies on every Bandit CB I own. I have a nice collection of them (not a collection that sets on a shelf). I’d bought certain patterns not having that warm and fuzzy feeling only for them to be good producers.

I’m not gonna buy and use any old crankbait but if it looks like it might catch a river smallie for me I’ll give it a shot.

The boat monkey got me last evening!  New set of steps on the way for the boat!

Well had some rewards points to use at DSG. Walked in and they had a ton Newly added to the Buy5get5 deal.  Clearance the bait monkey is definitely the hardest hitting.  The line was different and from a TW order, that also included a new Tatula SV in 7:3:1 I’m waiting on still.

Anyone have anything to say about Basix?  I saw it academy, and did a side by side comparison to Invisx, and it was crazy how much thinner and clear the Invisx looked.  The basix almost looked like mono on the spool.

Wow, your DSG is wayyy better than ours

I have not been in a DSG in years because of the poor selection. I will at times jump on an online deal.. nice score

I picked up a spool from a recent Omnia order.  I can't find a review anywhere on this stuff, but it's a Seaguar product and it won best in show at Icast.  At $8.50/spool vs $25 for Invisx or Abrazx it's definitely worth a shot- I won't use it with any baits where sensitivity is important but figured it might be good for chatterbaits.

Another NRX+ 873CRR just showed up yesterday…to my house….straight into the arms of my wife. I couldn’t help it……Valentines Day is coming up and I wanted to express my love for myself.

I feel like I hit some sort of jackpot.  I'm a big fan of the lucky craft BDS series (big daddy strike, fyi) that was discontinued years ago and will check ebay from time to time to see if I can scrounge one up (mainly bds1's & 2's).  TW did start selling the 2's and 3's again last year in limited colors, but no 1's or 4's.   I happened to check ebay last week and ran across the usual $50 bds1's so I decided to check some simmons lucky craft auctions.  Not only did I run across several auctions for bds1's, but they were in LC's hottest new colors.  I about fell out of my chair.  I also ended up budding on seversl pointers and LV300's that were to cheap to pass up.  Most exciting bait purchade in years, maybe ever.

Not really a purchase, but that kind of make it all that much sweeter. I was watching a live stream from Omnia fishing the other night and participating in some of the discussion in the comments as it went on. The next day I got a message from Brad from Omnia telling me to send him my address because I had won an Edge box for participating in the live stream. I walked out my door a little while ago to find this beauty waiting for me on my deck. Now I just have to decide what baits I’m going to cram into it.

Is that the deep box? Love those things, it's unbelievable how much stuff they hold. Probably the best purchase I've made storage-wise along with the edge spinnerbait box

Daiwa Rebellion 7'1" med-light and a few baits from Omnia. Don't forget to use the 10% off codes when ordering. It worked on the Daiwa but I don't think it works on Shimano.

No, just the standard depth. I haven’t gotten my hands on one of the deep ones yet. I have been thinking about grabbing one for my top water baits. They seem to take up quite a bit more room in my boxes than my other lures.
