This past Saturday. It's been way more than cut in half since the baby came last year, but we're boat shopping soon.

Have you looked into Everglades boats? I'm leaning that way right now.

Had a couple passengers on the boat today, I think they really enjoyed their ride along.

  • After a couple of years of being used to make the new movie "TOP GUN-2" this F-18 E  has just arrived @ our facility in Jacksonville Fl. for rework, fresh paint and being returned to the active fleet.

I have looked a long time ago. I'll have to check again.

Tricksie warily eyes the approach of Hurricane Ida.

She relaxed once I reassured her we had plenty of dog food on hand for her and Max and lots of Guinness for me ?

when we lived in the philippines my wife would climb the coconut trees to get us fresh coconuts so we could have fresh coconut water for breakfast.

Coconut water tastes like nothing you have ever drank, its tastes fantastic and refreshing with a sweet sparkling type of smooth bite to it like soda water mellowed out a bit.

The stuff they sell in a can in the grocery stores is crap as its been pastuerized and all the nutrients have been destroyed and sugar and flavoring has been added, dont buy the hype its not real.

I was reminded of these photos by Rita photos @BayouSlide posted on the Ida Check-in thread.  Didn't want to post them there, so instead, brought them here.

This was 3 weeks after Harvey, about 15 miles W of the eye.  Great fishing, though, and the RV park was happy to get our business.  SH-35 drainage ditch was lined with boats from the 5-story boat condo at Cove Harbor that was demolished.  Rockport recovered quickly, though - a lot of money there.

The facilities had a new skylight.

I kinda cheated by posting it on the check-in thread, but that gives me the chance to post another storm surge aftermath (Rita, 2005) here, a modest house in the country probably 20 miles inland that was washed right off its foundation.

Winds are starting to pick up and no real rain yet here, but since the storm came in at noon at Port Fouchon directly south of New Orleans, we'll be on the western edge apparently. Did just hear what sounded like a transformer blowing a few blocks over.

You're grateful when your community is spared, but your heart goes out to others who proved left fortunate.

I was documenting damages in the area for my utility client and the images that stick most strongly in my mind were ones I didn't have the heart to photograph.

Went for a paddle and a swim in the river behind the house today. Did some snorkelling, saw a bunch of bass and panfish tucked in the weeds. It looks mucky in the pic, but the water is actually gin clear, and has a pretty decent current, even in the heat of summer. That’s our house in the background.

 good girl ………

We were fortunate to escape the wrath of Hurricane Ida where I live but the eastern half of the state, including Baton Rouge and New Orleans were not so lucky and power outages are reportedly widespread. My heart goes out to them as I finish prep for our trip out west which begins tomorrow.

Here's a scene from last year, on La Barge Creek Road near Big Piney, Wyo.

I like my coffee like I like my women. Hot and goes down easy.

Last photo of the day for a while as we hit the road this morning for Montana. I hope to be dining on this, my Fresh Sharptail Grouse Teriyaki, soon. ?
