I feel like I'm pretty bad about fishing lines that are at the low end of what is required for the presentation except finesse.  I've drop shotted with 4#, but beyond that I'm typically using 8 or 10.  I have a spool of untouched six.

 

What pound line and type are you using when throwing the ned?

As of right now a Booyah frog. Nothing better than throwing a frog into the thick slop and waiting for a blow up!

I don't have a favorite, I usually mod and change the blades and skirts on most. I like Stanley's, Booyah, Mann's Hank Parker, Humdinger, and a bunch of others, but I usually pick up a bunch on sale and fishing show/flea markets, cause I'm just using the bodies most of the time. I will say that a willow/colorado catches fish most every where. There is so much to spinnerbait fishing (as with most lures) than just chucking and winding as some think. Other than crazy cold water, I always have one tied on, and they are just fun to fish and extremely versatile.

I threw them quite a bit when I was younger, and have tied them on a few times and caught quite a few since my fishing return.  I'm a big fan of slow rolling them and throwing them into heavier cover ever since I was informed they're pretty weedless.

 

There is something very fun about a lure that really tells me what it's up to down there, whether it be a crank, chatter, or spinner.

Same here. It usually catches me some of my biggest prespawn fish every year, and is a great way to locate fish as they move up and down to spawning areas. I like the first cold spell after they move up in force, They usually stay shallow with their bellies on the bottom, and will only turn their heads and bite. My best lure for that. 

Soft plastic a RoboWorn or GY Cut Tail. 

 

Hardbait some type of Rapala. Shad Rap, Risto Rap, DT. 

 

But it if it were life or death and I had to take two lures with me to catch a bass it would not be fishing my favorites.

No man. Pretty far off. In all seriousness it would be a Berkley Power Worm and a Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap. 

 

Hope to never be put in that situation. But let’s say we were in season and it was a real real tough pull your hair out type day. Nothing was happening. I’d just clean off the boat deck, gather my thoughts and have those two things rigged up. I feel that strongly that I can/will make something happen with them. Might be a dink or runt but a bass. Heck I might just go home skunked who know but I do fell that strongly about those two lures. Old Rat-L-Trap saved the more than once. Old Rat-L-Trap was the lure that caught my first fish of the season on more than one occasion. 

 

I’m pretty sure we all have those baits. Even though not your favorite. 

My favorite lure to fish are any top water lure because the strikes are exciting and enjoy casting and working them.

My most successful lures per man hour fished are finesse worms on a slip shot and drop shot rigs, boring and my last choice to use but can't remember not catching bass using them.

My favorite lure to use are my hair jigs with pork rind trailer followed by spider jigs with double tail soft plastic trailers. I always fish jigs during a outing and spend more time on the water using them. 

My second favorite lure is T-rigged big soft plastic worm and often alternate worms and jigs on the same areas.

I like to fish big swimbaits but they are not my go to lures unless I know a swimbait bite is working. Same with crankbaits and enjoy casting and working them but not a go to lure. I also like to use structure spoons when they are working but I am not a numbers guy that smaller size school bass tend to be.

I just like catching bass and use everything including using my sonar unit.

I am using 10# PP yellow braid with 7# Sunline Sniper FC. Most of the time I am using a 1/16oz head.

With water temperatures near freezing this time of year it’s a gold or perch blade bait.

For numbers and size - the Ned Rig was solid this year and addicting. Love light line fishing too with light drag and finesse gear. Even caught a ton of nice cats fishing it at night from shore. 

 

Runner’s up - fished the Zoom Ultravibe Speed Worm for the first time this year and so happy I did. It’s one of the most versatile worms out there and covers all water columns effectively. From waking to dragging..... it’s action-packed. 

 

 It’s a blast to use it as a “search bait” to cover a ton of water quickly. Cali 420 is a killer color for me!

Rage Swimmer latley

My vote for soft plastic has to be the Rage Bug on a 4/0 Trokar Magworm EWG hook.  50# braid, #20 fluoro leader, if necessary.  Tungsten from 1/4-1/2oz and a high speed reel.

 

Which leads right into my favorite hard bait, a jig.  Lately I've been liking the Missile Ike series Flip Out and Mini Flip.  3/8oz has been my sweet spot for the waters I normally fish.  The torn up Rage Bug is one of my favorite trailers.  

 

As far as colors go, 90% of the time I'm throwing black and blue, or green pumpkin, or some combination of the two.  I'm really starting to like a green pumpkin trailer on a black and blue jig.  Depending on the conditions I'll chartreuse the tips on the green pumpkin, and I always smear on a little Liquid Mayhem or MegaStrike attractant.

 

Fun post... But now I'm extra sad my water is hard ?

While I have done fairly well with standard War Eagle spinner baits I like the screaming eagle version. It is a 1/2 ounce spinner bait on a 1/4 ounce frame. I seem to get more bites on it with it being smaller.

Anything with the word RAGE in front of it.

The lakes I fish don't get sprayed. The house we just bought is on a private lake and it gets sprayed every year. It's a no wake lake so the dead weeds don't disappear very fast because the traffic is minimal. 

My favorite lures to fish are spinnerbaits and swim jigs. Now the lures that work best for me are jigs and soft plastics.

Good call.  I've had the pull-out-your-hair tough days and I go straight to a lipless (Cotton Cordell, Rat-L-Trap, or Red eye Shad) and a Zoom Trick Worm.  Those are my "Not going to take a skunk today" baits.
