The only thing to limit tackle selection is space in the boat/bag.  The garage/attic still has plenty of room to fill.

 

However, give me the complete line of of Berkley MaxScent and Z-man products and I would be content. 

I use Zoom more than any of them. I do have some in Berkley, Reaction Innovations, Wave Worms, and BPS stickos. Have a couple of packs of Yamamoto senkos.

I don't see why you'd stick to one brand, unless you were sponsored.  There's so many great baits out there, I like to pick a few from several makers.  If I absolutely had to stick to one, I'd say Ragetail baits would cover most of it for me, but I'd still throw OG Senkos, too.

Don't over think things. Just fish what you think at the time is the best possible thing to throw. All that really matters is that you catch fish. 

I can't see myself ever doing that.

98% of all the soft plastics I use are Grande Bass. I branch out and use Yamamoto Senkos, Zoom Fluke, a few Jackall soft plastics and something I pick up her and there throughout the year; but other than that it is fully Grande Bass.

A little pricey but i use only Yamamoto branded plastics. Over the 4-5 years I've eventually switched because my catch rates just seem to be better.

I typically use what is available locally and/or what I get on sale online. If I can get 40% off of a particular brand, it's a no brainer to stock up. So I've got a box full of Biospawn and Gambler plastics that I need to use. But I could probably get by with Zoom products alone. Baby Brush Hogs are a go to. It's hard to resist buying more plastics when there's a good deal. 

I get a lot of my plastics hand poured by an old timer, they are super soft with great action. As far as brands, I use zoom, rage tail, and big bite baits. Bobby garland for panfish 

Use all different brands but lately seems like I am using mostly Z Man mainly because of Ned Rigging.

Still not sure why you would limit yourself unless you are sponsored? Personally I use whatever works regardless of manufacturer. The only limitation I could see is if you are limited to what you can buy locally from say Wal-Mart? Otherwise I have at least 20 different manufacturers besides what I pour myself.

I use em all from time to time...probably the reason I give so many away to kids and such...I'm a junkie with tackle.  But....have used Dry Creek tubes for years and they have done me good....very good....from coast to coast.

People keep saying why would you want to?

 

But as a minor counter argument, why wouldn't you stick with 1 brand.

 

Three ideas, mostly for beginners.

 

1) if you caught some bass on your first plastic, say Berkely, you would be excited with Berkeley and maybe want to try their swimbaits, etc.

 

2) if you stick with 1 brand, the colors are more consistent, and you know what they are.  For example, if you tell me a lure's color is 'You Know It' or 'Monkey Butt' you know it's gonna be River2Sea.  So theoretically a Berkely pearl white should be the same in stick or paddle tail or lizard.

 

3) for beginner's, choices are overwhelming.  And if you look at Tackle Warehouse's reviews, people will say 'only get Senkos, they outclass the others', and other people will say 'don't bother with Senkos, they're too expensive, get Zooms'.  With so many choices, if you like Berkeley, and you want to learn wacky rig, there probably exists a reasonable alternative to Senko by Berkely to start out with. 

 

So why not?  It seems like as a beginner, once you start catching fish with a brand, getting other plastics or hard lures from them should be a safer bet in your mind and exciting!

Gunthos's reply seems to zero in on what I want to do as I restart. Keep my selection simple and since I will be fishing from the back I won't have tons of stuff, with no where to put it. In the past I'd have Zoom paddle tails, Yamamoto kut tails, Iovinos, Robos in 6" worms, maybe others as well and that was just one color family! Not much space to add different colors. With one brand I could bring several colors, as I relearn I'll be able to judge whether I should swap out one brand for another and not sink the boat.

Does this make sense?

Over the years I’ve used quite a few different brands, and still have specific models of certain brands used for a very specific type of fishing, but my absolute favourite and the one I use probably about 95% of he time is Berkley powerbait. Maybe it’s just a confidence thing but I’ve caught so many fish on so many different Berkley baits over the years, they’re always the first soft plastic bait I pick up and usually don’t put back down.

So, which brand are you going to use?

Yes, I am sponsored by Yamamoto but let me offer a few reasons to stick with a brand and it doesn't have to be Yamamoto.  Consistency.  Take the Senko for example, probably the most imitated bait out there.  "IF" you go with whatever brand was the cheapest the day you were shopping, chances are (if you were used to throwing a Senko original), the bait is not going to have the same action.  Also keeping in mind that there aren't that many bait makers who pour their own plastics so a lot of the knockoffs will perform the same.  Another aspect of consistency is the formula of the bait.  I know how I have to rig Yamamoto plastics for the best action and a lot of that is based on the formula.  Some makers may have a scent you like.  And as has been said, if you are a stickler for color, you know your favorite color will be the same across the entire line.  May be small differences but it inspires confidence and you better have that with whatever plastic you decide to throw.  

Yamamoto senkos, Zoom creatures, Berkley worms, Netbait trailers, Reaction Innovations beavers.

I am partial GYCB but I probably have a dozen baits buy a dozen manufactures that get fished just as much.  It seems each manufacture has at least one signature bait that keeps them going.

Ribbon Tail Worm> Rage Tail, Anaconda, Zoom Ole Monster, and Berkley PowerBait Power Worm 7in

Creature Bait> There just too many but GYCB Kreature, GYCB Fat Ika are my favorites

Trailer> Zoom Chunk and BioSpawn Vile Craw/Rage Baby Craw 

Lizard> Zoom 

Finesse Worms> BioSpawn 6.5in Plasma Tail/Roboworm

Padle Tail/Swimbait>Zoom Fluke and Keitech
