What is your longest duration between fishing trips?

I bought my kayak July1 2020. I was bank fishing once a week for two months prior to buying the kayak.

I think I kayaked two weeks before I brought fishing gear aboard   No fishing.

every week since: I’ve fished 1-3 days a week.  Mostly after work and weekends.

I just took a fishing break.  Tired. I’ll end up going two weeks again without wetting a line. I felt I was getting a bit obsessed. Haha. Nice to know I can stop anytime I want. :)

you?

I can't nail it down to the day, but I'd reckon my longest gap is right around 20 years.

I don't know my exact break time, but before I discovered that Trout in my local creek bit during winter, than probably the months November-February. But now I usually go almost every week, sometimes 3 days a week if I'm lucky!

Since I got back to 'regular' fishing?

Winter - this year it was late September to mid April between trips.

I'm old and I fish from a kayak...after four days straight,  I tell my wife "I have to take a break"...'bout 0430 the following day, I'm jittery and anxious to get back out there

About 10 years, give or take a few years.  It would have been twenty, but I did get one small fishing trip squeezed in the middle there.

I sometimes take a break in the dog days of the summer for a couple weeks.  I definitely take a break from longer, overnight trips at that time but I usually still sneak out around the house locally.  I have historically taken my last extended summer trip at the beginning of August and then not go anywhere again till the start of October.  But I will say that I took a Labor Day trip last summer and the lake was relatively quiet (It was a HP-restricted lake so no fast boats).  No tournaments and a low number of fishermen made for a very nice weekend.  Think I might make that a trend moving forward.

During the winter I might go 2 weeks, that's about the max my mental health can tolerate.

Usually only a few days.  I'm retired and fish several times a week.  As I got older I'm not fishing as long though.  I am going to take a long break as I'm having my shoulder replaced very soon.

I took a 13 year break from 1997-2010 and regret every day missing that much fishing time that I will never get back! Nowadays I fish year round and if I go more than a week without fishing I want to choke people.

I can't imagine taking a fishing break because I thought I was getting too obsessed. I quit drinking 16 years ago because it was becoming a problem. Fishing isn't a problem, it's a blessing.

Roughly five years. I was active duty at the time and was traveling a lot mostly during.

I quit drinking just shy of ten years ago myself. If I spent every penny on fishing gear that I spent on alcohol, I’d probably had four top dollar nitros right now and a house on my lake of choice lol paid for.

I'd say over 25, not counting the few times I taught my daughters how to fish.

That's a good while, bro. When I stopped, I'd say I quit, but I didn't even put enough thought into it to have declared -- even to myself -- that I'd "quit fishing." I just put my stuff up in the shed at my friend's dock I usually fished off of, locked it back, and walked away.

Didn't even think about fishing for all that time until a year or two ago when I was playing a game on my phone, and my girlfriend was playing the same game, and she said "Why don't we just go actually fish?"

After saying that she's maybe gone three or four times with me, and she's caught exactly one fish. Mostly she's annoyed at all the headspace I give to fishing. lol

30 years.  Just getting back into it this year.  Went from half a fishing rod and 1 cheap reel to 10 rods and 16 reels since January of this year.  Been out at least an hour or 2 every day for the last 3 weeks.  So far I caught 4 bridges, 8 branches and a whole lot of weed.  Got 3 bites.  Almost landed a pike yesterday but it broke off my line 5 feet from me.  So far I'm loving I'm loving it.

I can’t complain. I had a decision to make. Fall/Winter for hunting, or spring/summer for fishing. I know many do both, but when you’re bowhunting almost every weekend from early September to the end of January (plus spring gobbler), doing the same for fishing is year-round and I drew the line. At almost 61, fishing is a lot less taxing then bowhunting. Especially when it comes to dragging out a dead buck or doe.

If I hadn’t moved to Texas, I still may not have gotten back to fishing. It’s amazing what catching your PB at least 3x heavier than your previous best does to your motivation!

Since I got back into fishing, usually from December until mid-March.  If it's warm enough I'll go after crappie or sunfish in February.

Last outing in 2020 was Oct 10 and first outing in 2021 was April 17. 6 months and 6 days in between.

It’s hard to say 4 years while I was in school and working full time, because since I was 2 years old there was never a period of 365 days that I did no fishing. In my worst years, I had to have gone at least 3 or 4 times. Maybe as many as 6. I’m sure I’ve referred to time off, somewhere, but that’s time off for me. Last year was what I’d call terrible. I probably only got out 15 times (Edit: I originally said maybe 20, but it was more like 15). But it’s hard to tell, because I fish a lot for several species between April and November. I also fish for 8+ hours at a time quite a bit, but I don’t keep a log.

It’s hard to say how long I go between outings, could be a week could be three.

@Junk Fisherman I never concern myself with how hot it is out. I usually start fishing at the point everyone else leaves saying it’s “too hot out now.”

My longest break is the month of November and December when I'm deer hunting almost every day.

This time of year sees me on the water 3 - 4 times per week.

I'm living it right now.  Weather in NOWEMO will just NOT cooperate

I can't fish from usually mid to late November untill mid to late Febuary. Once things get started, I usually bank fish 2 or 3 times a week on weeknight trips. Launch the boat on weekend trips for half a day.

Abut 6 months . I had surgery twice in the past ten years and had to recover .

Honestly I'd say the longest I've ever gone that wasn't my choice was probably a month or so...that was 3 years ago after I got burned at work.
