Favorite squarebills

Featured Replies

What’s your guys favorite squarebills I’ve recently been fishing them a ton as my dock is covered in shallow chunk rock at the mouth of a channel and I love throwing them in the afternoon as the shad move up shallow. I’ve recently found the bx brat to be phenomenal the Kvd 1.5s are ok but I like throwing the dt fat dt 4-6s and the bx brat the best I guess Rapala s are just productive for me. those brats are no joke. What squarebills to do you guys like I’ve heard good things about the little Jhon and crush cranks. Anyone used them ?

My go-to squarebill is a 6th Sense 100X in bluegill.

Clearly my squarebill arsenal does include a decent dose of SK baits.

Mostly because they they catch bass for me.

However, there's a few others mixed in there as well and they get bites too.

btw - while I fish both rattle and silent baits,

I do lean toward the silent baits more than half the time.

I haven't found a reason to stray from KVD 1.5s, and the occasional 2.5.

They are durable, I can get them at Walmart on the cheap, there are plenty of colors, and they catch fish.

That's tough. I have so many different squarebills. If I had to pick my go-to's...6th Sense Crush 50X, KVD 1.5 (Hard Knock), Lucky Craft 1.5, River2Sea Biggie, 13 Fishing Scamp.

Probably a KVD 1.5.  Old School crankbait is the Cotton Cordell Big-O,

If I only had one it would be the River2Sea biggie smalls in the smaller size. They have the perfect wobble for most conditions.

When the fish are aggressively biting I like the Megabass S cranks a lot

I like the Strike King squarebills, the hard knock version has been good for me this year. I've had good luck with the new Spro Essential Series Hunter 65 squarebill since it came out also.

Very back row is all lipless

This is the first year I’ve really used my square bills a lot.  They have caught a lot fish. Usually, I would have used a regular crank in the past.  Most of mine are the 1.5 size. Almost all of mine are silent and fish still find them 1ft-2ft visibility

The Most productive have been the strike king kvd’s, and lucky craft American series with circuit board lip. I caught multiple species on the loan spro last year ( circuit board) .

I have 6th sense, lunker hunt ( actually pretty good sq bill), couple bandits, and a couple Rick clunns .

best bang for your buck is the strike king.  Even though, they lack imho in natural looking ones.  Sexy shad is a good one, any of the shad colors along with the rest of the bolder colors. I change all the hooks out with Mustad KVD’s

I fish the lucky crafts ones because, they have a lot of good flashy silver and natural patterns. I’m not a fan of their bolder colors.

I yet to catch much on my 6th sense.  They are well made baits with good paint jobs.

I’ve got a Rick clunn square bill that I’ve caught bass in before.  Some how they are tied to lucky craft?

RC 1.5 and Bandit 100 have proven themselves for years.  This year its been the Bandit 100 in ole matte light.

H2O has given me a lot of success. I don’t know who actually makes them, but I would like to know since Academy won’t ship to CA anymore.  I like the sound they make.

Oh boy...Strike King, Lucky Craft, River2Sea, Evergreen, Rapala, SPRO, 6th Sense, Megabass, here's about half of them.

I have a lot of KVD’s have caught ton’s of fish but today if I’m fishing a squarebill, it’s usually a BX Brat or Squarebull.  I probably throw DT’s more than squarebills though.

I’m wierd a strike king Kvd1.5 has been the most sold crank in the world the past couple years telling me that everyone is knowing them, while they do work I like to throw baits that not everyone has, if a fish sees 15 Kvd 1.5s a day and then sees a bx brat fast fighter wobble or a little Jhon’s super tight wobble on my mind it would be more apt to catch fish

Pickerel and Pike are to blame. I did have to eat a channel cat in Ohio to get one back.
