DNR busts a lot of poachers when the spring walleye run is on.  By law in the state of Michigan, you can't be in possession of more than two daily limits.  Either two in the freezer, or one in the freezer and one on your person.  Guys will go out every single morning and catch a limit.  Many of them have bragged to me about it.  The COs aren't as dumb as they like to think, they take notes and know who's taking more than they should.  They'll sit at the boat launches and wait for suspects to return and check their live wells or even accompany the offender home to look at his freezer.  First offense they write a ticket and take your fish, second time they confiscate your gear and write a bigger ticket, and strike three is the same as strike two but with a fishing ban that could be from one year to a lifetime dependent on severity.

Is anyone else reading these accounts and wanting to move to ten other states at once? If I had to pick one, it would be Missouri. No, Michigan. No, New York. No, California. No,....

I live on the border of Nayarit, and Jalisco Mexico.  I fish for bass in waters of both states.

 

No crowds, most days I am the only bass fisherman on the lake.  Big bass, a DD. largemouth can hit on any cast, any time of year and Margaritas, not bad.

Shores of Champlain ('nough said)

St Lawrence 3 hours west (ditto)

4 hours to China, Candlewood, Cayuga

Lakes and pond in VT with 8+lb smallies that can't be weighed for records because of catch and release season.

We have world class trout and if the bass bite sucks we can go jig lakers (think fishing blades in 100fow for 10-28lb slimers).

Being in the PNW, our Bass don't thrive as they would in the South. Our biggest is a whopping 12.5 pounds. My personal best is around 4, I'm so close!

Seriously though, I enjoy the smallmouth fishing in Maryland. Most bass fishermen pay attention to largemouth, and the few that do go for smallies usually fish the big name areas like the Potomac. There are plenty of medium-sized streams that hold respectable smallmouth fishing. The rivers and streams in Baltimore County are mostly only good for numbers, but the west has both numbers and size. It’s a ton of fun finding a secluded creek full of fish that hardly see any pressure

Growing up, my bucket list fishery was always Castaic Lake thanks to stories I read about Bob Crupi. It's a shame the state hasn't taken better care of their fisheries.

I’ve heard there are bass here in Alabama but I think @AlabamaSpothunter smuggled them all to his secret lake ? ? Seriously though, Guntersville and Neely Henry are two lakes I’d love to live beside for fishing if they weren’t so far apart.

We're blessed in terms of Bass fishing in Alabama, not the best state, but I'd say it's in the top 5 easily.   

 

Alabama has also contributed heavily to Bass fishing history, and where it's currently at today.

We are likely close in age then, I grew up dreaming of that lake, reading everything I could about it in the Bass rags. 

 

It's tragic, but I'm far from surprised given where those once magical lakes are located.   That state has a tragic history of handling it's natural resources, including modern day.

Knew you would, just seems like a place you'd love.

 

I'm already looking at getting another Bass boat so I can fish these bigger lakes.    I just miss being on a Bass boat.

Shoot, take that Jon out there. When we stayed on Weiss, we took a 3 14 footers haha. It was during a hurricane, bail buckets were utilized 

In california we get jabbed 64$ a year for a license and many lakes are 10$ a day plus a 20$ boat launch fee not including 5$ salt addition, tags for salmon, or 21$ for a double rod permit, all to fish all dried up resavoirs that used to have nice fish but have been managed eh, to say the very least.

Ha! Check out a song called “the flood of 1994” by John Hartford if you can find it. It’s the perfect description of what you described 

Oklahoma!  Where some of the best bass fishing in the country is just one state away!  

 

Seriously though, we have a good variety of lakes.  Not a lot of big bass, and not a lot of good bass fishing lakes, but we've got just about every conceivable type of lake and all within a few hours drive.  So if you wanted to train to become a well-rounded professional, I imagine here would be a good place to do it.  That, and our lakes almost never freeze over!

They are definitely hard to find sometimes. We have a lot of diverse places to fish. 

 

The best state I have ever been for bass fishing was Missouri. I swear every house or trailer had a 2 acre pond in the back yard. Even caught a couple meanmouth bass.

Hot bed?  Hardly. But it’s warm bed.  I love my choices.  Lots of bodies of water.  Different bass species.   Great year round weather.  

I am in central Florida..........that's all I really need to say. 12 months a year fishing for whatever is swimming.freshwater,saltwater. lakes, ponds,rivers,etc. got it all here. guess I did have more to say.......LOL....

Washington Oregon share a border being the Columbia. Fishing has slowly but steadily declined as a DIRECT RESULT OF BOTH STATES MISMANAGEMENT.  Enjoy.
