Jason Conn got a 17.3 lb bass this week while 'guiding' two clients.

Heck of a fish but the video looks like he may have snagged it in the side with an A-Rig.

Good lord, a massive bucketmouth.

He snagged it with an a rig. Still an accomplishment, I've had more hooks come out of snagged fish than I have from lipped ones. I know some places have rules about that but I would still lose my mind if I brought that in

What a beast of a fish!

Absolutely huge!

I’d have to catch three on my home lake to get close to that!??

I watched the video last night with no volume. Great catch for sure! I bet there will be a ton of "guides" out there now for someone to use to catch their PB.

I've always believed snagging a fish especially in the spring when it's shallow and ready to spawn is unsportsmanlike like and I'm sticking to my story.  This just proves he knows how to snatch a line. Duh

Didnt some pro fisherman get busted snagging them?

he became pigeon-holed  with it.  now I occasionally watch a fishing video and if a fish is snagged (Say on a) with a jerk bait..they joke.  "hey, you John Doe'd it!".  (forget the name)

however..that is a GIANT bass.  even the eyeballs are huge!

I think his name is Mike Long, big bass legend for many. From what I understand, he was allegedly caught red handed snagging giant bass off their beds and then taking them to other lakes to claim a lake record or even using them in tournaments. There's plenty of info on the internet, videos with actual footage. Crazy what lengths some folks will go to for a short lived slice of fame!

I remember the first time we took my best friend's dad's 911 Targa for "speed trials", we'd take turns trying to get our new high speed, and we'd reach 150mph in the blink of an eye, however from 150 to 173 it was like waiting for eternity.

Ivie is incredible, but it just puts in perspective how truly epic SoCal and the fish it produced were during its heyday.
