Super User the reel ess Posted December 4, 2022 Super User Share Posted December 4, 2022 I like active, informative fishing. I mean I like to know where you are, what you're using, season and conditions. I HATE when a guy wastes 5 minutes of my life driving to the spot before sunrise. No one needs to see that. I LOVE topwater explosions! Topwater is my favorite way to catch a bass by a wide margin. I get through cold winter weekend days rewatching BamaBass's frog videos. I like watching pike and smallmouth fishing like NDYak. And I like Everglades and Fellsmere fishing. I like Mex trophy lake videos. I love peacock bass videos. I even like ice fishing videos because I would totally do that if I had to endure harsh winters. I like those small stream fishing for anything videos because I did that as a kid (and adult, LOL). And, of course, I like the kayak fishing videos because that's my bag, man.

Tom Wow! Coming from you, that means a lot! I'm very humbled and grateful for the kind comments. There are a lot of great fishing channels for people to watch. so I'm often surprised to see mine mentioned among them....even caught off-guard when somebody recommends watching one of my videos. I don't think I'm very good at it, but people are their own worst critics, right? So thank you for the encouragement. I means a lot! 3
Jonas Staggs
I like short information videos that get straight to the point and don't waste my time. I don't like shows, reality tv, click bait, and long rambling videos and googan squad I like tactical bassin but they ramble a bit and videos are way too long Bassfishing hq is good but has become click baity Rawrfishing for bfs 618fishing for his tiny lure challenge Bass resources is good information and straight to the point, need more videos! I used to run a YouTube for a different sport I used to compete in. Had 10k followers so was somewhat successful. Wanted to try the same with fishing but half assed it and am no longer interested. Mainly because my previous sport I am a expert in, I am not a expert fisherman.

That doesn't help me much. Show me the work behind all of that. Show me why you're casting where you are. Show me your retrieve. Show me how you're making the decision to change your approach. I agree completely. Even tournament shows with a camera in the boat all the time....way too often they will cut to show a recent catch, but only from the hookset or landing. Only looking for instruction on YT.....I admit they I will watch shorts when they pop up on FB, but those are rarely more than about 30 sec...maybe a min. bowhunter63
Bassresource NDYak angler and a few River Smallmouth bass channels. Plus the channel Old School bass fishing videos.
Chilidog
I watch quite a bit of You Tube during the winter months. I like Scott Martins tournament videos. I don't tournament fish but it's fun to see what all goes on. Hella Bass has a good channel. He covers a bit of everything and his live streams are good. He is also local which makes the content more relatable.
Tackleholic
Major League Fishing shows very little but the hookset and "skiing" the fish to the boat; boring to me, and I usually look for something more informational to watch. Bassmaster does a much, much better job and is interesting to watch. On 12/3/2022 at 10:30 PM, the reel ess said: I like active, informative fishing. I can't think of anything more boring than watching the anglers having coffee and riding to their supposedly unknown location. They are professionals at their trade, not actors.
Gera
I'm going to be honest, I rather watch a video of a dumb guy catching an 8lbs bass with a Barby rod than a guy trying to sell me more crap or give me a secret that "will make all Pros mad" at least those guys are honest and are not saying that they are teaching me anything. Super User Bankbeater Posted February 2, 2023 Super User Share Posted February 2, 2023 I like the videos where the angler will be talking about the lake being fished. Also like the ones where the angler explains what is going on with the bait and how it is being worked. I turn it off when they start boating one bass right after another, or start talking about how I should run out and buy a certain bait.
Super User Bird Posted February 2, 2023 Super User Share Posted February 2, 2023 I'm subscribed to many YouTube Bass fishing channels and like them all. I don't particularly care for the ones where the fisherman screams DUDE! DUDE! DUDE! when they hook a good one. Lol 2
MN_Bassin24
Clickbait obviously sucks... I like regional fishing videos, and honest/simple tackle reviews. The Tackle warehouse videos are some of my favorites to watch. Bass resource is great too. For entertainment I like: NDYakAngler, 330 Maniac, Jay Siemens, Jason Mitchell, and @A-Jay Sometimes the best videos are made by no-name channels

wonkyrig
I'd really like to see more vids where the angler has a scene from the beginning of the trip briefly discussing the conditions and what their loose plan is. Footage of driving to the ramp or backing the boat in and all that is really unnecessary. Throughout the vid maybe including some brief commentary on what's changing, how are the fish set up, thought process on what they're doing or where. Show some quick bit about what's tied on. Don't be afraid to fail on camera. Not everyone puts a 20+ bag together everyday and that's fine. Vids that are 40% sponsor discussion or chatter unrelated to fishing get closed pretty quickly. Audio is more important in vids that many realize.

I don't need to see you shopping at Walmart or BPS or driving to the lake in the dark. You can show me what you're using while fishing. My time is important and I'll just skip the crap and get to the goodies.
garroyo130
Tackle advisors when im looking to buy reels. Thats probably it. Everything else I watch is VHS to youtube like Bigmouth Forever ... man I love that video. Oddly, I've found that its far easier for me to find acceptable fly fishing videos than bass fishing videos. Zcoker
The older videos are actually more interesting to watch than some of these newer ones......or most of the newer ones lol Videos like Bigmouth Forever or Doug Hannon to name a few. Clunn's videos with Fish the Moment are very interesting. I take notice when some these legends speak up and slip out some of their tricks. Lotta good pointers out there. Just gotta dig. Like going to the library in the old days lol
