I have more willpower than most here when it comes to buying tackle. Money does not burn a hole in my pocket. Most lures are designed to catch fisherman's wallets, not fish.

Alex from GA
My goal is to catch an 8 lb then a 10 or maybe the 10 first. I fish where they are but haven't come close yet.

Pat Brown
I'm gonna try really hard to catch a fish on a buzzbait all 12 months in 24. Got my work cut out for me . Gonna be a meteorologist by the end of the winter. 😂😂😂😂😂
GRiver
I wanna catch a double digit, I think I know where was is at. I’ve had something peel out my drag and run in to the pads, gets in there and shake themselves loose twice. Want to go back and spend time and catch it. I want to get better with crank baits. I fish a lot of finesse and pitching( it works) but I want to expand. Plus when the strippers run during shrimp season I want to spend some time and catch a few of them in 2024. AND!!!… ABOVE ALL, I want everyone here to be having this same conversation at the end of 2024, all of us. So stay safe, be heathy and stay alive. ALL OF US!!

I'm a fan of pad stems in the early spring. Bass, eyes, muskie, all relate to 'em early on. Goals? I'll be looking to up my muskie game in 24. There'll still be a good amount of bass fishing done, but this muskie addiction has really gotten it's hooks into me. Hoping for a 49" or bigger ski, and a 7# + LM. I intend to spend more nights on Piedmont chasing big smalljaws as well. I've been slacking on them for a few years in my pursuit of a giant green fish. 1

Might just catch the fish of a lifetime.
Susky River Rat
@T-Billy where’s this 42 degree temps? We are sub 40. If anything I would troll the bait this time of year. I don’t have the new boat set up for that. the other issue is the lakes I used to troll had a 20hp limit. I have t had a 20hp motor in a few years. Super User ol'crickety Posted December 14, 2023 Author Super User Share Posted December 14, 2023 I keep trying to take our water temps, but the ice won't let me. I'm thinking of buying an auger and casting a Whopper Plopper into that hole.
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted December 14, 2023 Super User Share Posted December 14, 2023 I would like to savor every moment I get to spend on the water In addition, spend a little more time with new baits and get cozy learning about lakes new and old

SpellCaster
My goals for 2024: - Start fishing toads - Catch a bass with a frog - Learn to fly fish (for bass) - Top my total catches for the year (2022 was 214; 2023 so far I'm at 232) - Fish more from my kayak which I just got this year - There's a local park in town that has two nice sized ponds filled with bass and bream and it's only open for fishing 4-5 days out of the year. Since the bass aren't pressured and are used to plenty of people jogging/playing around the ponds they aren't very skittish, so they bite lures easily. Think I hauled in 5 bass in a row one of the mornings and ended up with 26 within 1 1/2 hours. The only thing that would make those days better would be if the bass were bigger. I didn't catch one even breaking 2lbs, though one kid caught an 11lb there this year. Since the park officials encourage anglers to keep what they catch I've been doing exactly that in hopes of culling out some of the smaller bass so the rest fatten up to DDs. Planning to do more of that for 2024 and, while it's still probably too early to see much difference, I hope to see some bigger bass caught out of there. - Get skunked less

Last year was a fun year for fishing once it got rolling. I don't remember having specific goals last year, but if I had goals, they weren't likely realized. In those respects, last year was completely upside down for me. My takeaway is that maybe my goals should be a bit more subjective: be curious be aware go with what appears before me not be afraid to get skunked be patient appreciate that I am blessed to spend time on the water have fun be safe I now also have one that is more likely to meet the criteria of being a SMART goal in that it would be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time bound: On 12/11/2023 at 7:56 PM, WRB said: Go fishing bass again during pre spawn with jigs.
