Since that thread has disappeared for me is there any interest in starting a new thread? 

Caught some of my first Bass on a couple of farm ponds outside Columbia, SC as a little boy using the Rebel minnow . Dad taught me right. Have a complete collection of the Rebel Critters and the old Rebel-R lure that made Zell Roland a lot of dough. I like other poppers better.

I liked that  thread. I dont have anything to share to it though.

You know it is hard for me to believe that these lures aren't sold anymore. I still have a minnow and some humpbacks and some pop R's left but I'm sure that if they were on the market I would still be a customer for them.

Even though I don't have a lot to contribute, I do have Rebel baits in my collection. Always interested in any historical bass fishing topic.

I still fish with some older Rebels. They do not get used as much as they had because of all the newer lures I have but they still produce. 

 

When I started Striper fishing in the early 1960's I had 3 lures, two sizes of Creek Chub Pikie Minnows, and a 8" or 9" Rebel which was used the most.

A spinning rod, 8 pound mono, and a Rebel Deep Wee R crankbait is all I needed to catch bass when I was young.  If it weren't for the Bait Monkey on my back, that is all I would need now.

I enjoyed the thread, what happened to it? I own several Rebel lures and use them from time to time, they still work well.

I still have and use some Wee R crankbaits. they have some of the best finishes and colors still to this day. I still have a Rebel Blackstar crankbait. cool lure won't use it cause I will probably lose it. really cool bait.

I have some old rebel lures when the confederate flag was on box. I still use them for stripers in early march. But that's about it.

Rebel broken back minnows have caught more bass for me than any other lure I've thrown in the last 30 years.  It is the most versatile bait I own.  On one cast it can be a topwater, shallow running crank bait, jerk bait, or wake bait.  Topwater is my choice for big fish.......both small and large mouth.

I like to scour Ebay for some old ones and swap out the trebles paint 'em up the way I like.

Yes.  Still hope to visit your rebel museum someday.  

I always enjoy seeing those Rebel lures and learning about them!! Please keep the Rebel education goin

This was also 1975 bassin’ attire in some parts of the country…

100% fashion police violation.  But since it was before I was even born, its safe.

Ha ha...that's the year i graduated high school. Those guys were the whip.

I still have the Rebel Minnow that I fished with 50 years ago down at my Grandma's place.  It needs new hooks but back in the day, it would slay the bluegill.

That Rebel Crawdad crank bait was a killer for River Smallies. Still is , love these baits and all the history
