  • This is truly heartbreaking news.   Losing a member like him leaves a hole that can’t really be filled. For nearly 20 years, he wasn’t just part of the forum — he was the forum in so many wa

Tom was going all in on BFS. We had a heck of a topwater season in 2025 that lasted from Spring and into the Fall. This is from the last time we fished together in late September. He bagged a six-plus

  • So sorry to hear this!    First we lose @Catt then we lose @WRB-2.0. Two great anglers and over 100 years of bass fishing knowledge we’ve lost this year. We should all be grateful these two sha

He lived the golden age of bass fishing. I’m glad he was able to unload his Southern California largemouth replicas before he passed. His experiences live on through those giant bass.

What a shock. The most helpful  information I learned  here on this forum was to look for the depth that is holding the most life. Learned that from Tom.

So sad. I was about to start a winter project and trying to mimic Tom’s hair jigs. He sent me pics about a month ago

I was hoping to mimic and either send to him maybe have BR give as a prize.

Man, this is awful to learn of his passing .

RIP Tom

RIP Tom - This fall I purchased a Shimano reel from Tom - the reel was wrapped/packaged with great care and included a very nice hand-written note - we shared several PM's back and forth in which he shared his knowledge of the reel, how he used it and some tips on taking care of the reel - He freely shared his high level knowledge and deep passion for fishing - He will be missed but never forgotten

Sorry to hear, peace to the family.

My goodness at first I thought this was him because he made a different account like he did when he made the 2.0. I was hoping to get a good laugh from him.

My condolences to his family, friends, and his bass resource family. It was an honor to learn from him.

Sad news. He was incredibly knowledeable, and always willing to generously share his knowledge. His contribution to this site will be missed, but not forgotten.

I just realized that I might have a couple of the last jigs that Tom tied since he was my secret Santa. I was beyond excited to see that return address of Tom’s on my package as I knew he would throw some of his hand tied goodness in there! I am beyond humbled now knowing these could have been some of the last he tied…

Condolences to Tom’s family. I truly enjoyed reading his responses on here.

Like he did with some of you, Tom was generous enough to send me some lures and I will treasure them times 3,000 now. I'll be torn between fishing with them to honor and remember Tom and never casting them to keep them safe. I think I'll lay one on my nightstand and cast the rest and when they catch bass, I'll say his name each time in gratitude.

Like all of you, I am so sad. Because he landed bass beyond our ken, Tom could have swaggered at Bass Resource, but he was always humble and kind.

Tears.

If I may.... Show his family this thread. Knowing his legacy reaches farther than themselves may help assuage the grief, even if it's just a bit!

Terrible news, I will be keeping his family in my prayers.  RIP Tom.

Tragic! One of the best. Freely and humbly gave a wealth of information.

Rest in peace, Tom.

Condolences to his family.

Still thinking about his passing.. I would easily guess that the 6 ALX and MajorCraft rods I have are a direct result of Tom’s recommendations to me.

This is not something I would have ever expected to read today.  I am dumbfounded.  RIP, Sir.  Prayers going out to the family.

That is a great idea.  Keep one.  The others, I am sure he would want you to use them!

OH WOW!!! I’ve shared many PM’s with Tom. Always willing to help.

Thank you Tom, rest in peace

Saw this in the morning and my heart sank.

I’m not a big contributor by any means here but have read most everything since getting back into freshwater after over 30 years of mostly fishing the salt.

Reading Tom’s stories of fishing those California reservoirs back in the day for truly trophy size bass were a firsthand history lesson.

If I saw a response or thread with WRB on it I always read it.

He truly walked the walk, he will be missed.

Prayers to his family, hopefully they know how much he meant to the people here.

I only knew Tom through our interactions on this forum, but he was without a doubt the most knowledgeable individual I've encountered when it comes to bass fishing. He was always a gentleman and eager to teach those of us without his font of fishing wisdom.

Oh Tom, I am so sorry and sad to hear that. I had pleasure to meeting him few times and I got very nice collections of lures from him and he acted like a mentor to me. A true fisherman with lots of history and credit under his belt. A trophy hunter and trophy bass angler. We Bassresource family lost a very important member today. I always brag about him since I knew him personally. I wish him rest in peace and wish the best for his family.

After celebrating the Christmas holiday with my family, I’m truly saddened and at a loss for words after reading of the passing of Tom Young, aka @WRB-2.0 or WRB depending on which forum you’re reading. Tom was always willing to give his personal perspective on all things related to bass, bass fishing, the pursuit of trophies and life itself. His comments, observations, documented knowledge will be appreciated just as the lack of his further contributions to the bass fishing community will be sorely missed.

My condolences to his wife and family and may Tom rest in peace….
