Boy howdy…pearl,  wounded spook…blue, devil’s horse about any color.

I wish I could say whopper plopper but it doesn’t even get strikes for me.

Heddon Torpedo, Choppo, Academy Sports H2o express double plop bait ( best plopper style bait I own).  I have had a Devil's horse in my box for years and never bothered fishing it.  Last time I was fishing I put it and on the first cast had a giant bass smash it.  I will be experimenting with it more, after I change the 40 year old hooks.

Devils Horse both the 3/8 and 1/2 oz in chrome/blue back/orange belly, Silver Shiner and Perch. I also have quite a few in colors no longer produced that I rely on. If you can find one on eBay in the color Dragon Fly I highly recommend it.

Heddon Baby Torpedo in just about any color.

Cordell Boy Howdy in gold/orange belly

Prop?  DEPS BuzzJet.   it is so good!!  reminds me I need to replace a bone color one I lost

GAH..always sold out!!  I was just in Japan and forgot to look for one of these.  dang.

Savage gear prop walker. Can be either a pencil popper or prop bait, although in my experience the little tabs break eventually and it just becomes a prop bait.

The top lure here. Use them every spring especially during post spawn. Bomber Long A with prop.

Megabass I-Loud. It makes a clacking sound when the tail goes back and forth. Its like a wake bait and a prop bait put together.

Also and I don't fish it anymore, Megabass had a wooden topwater prop bait that was a work of art but it was functional. I had two of them at one point.  Can't remember the name but it would get smashed when I fished it.

Heddon PopR, buzz bait and the Scramble in bone. Threw the wopper-plopper and couldn’t get a sniff. Switched to a 6th Sense Scramble and caught fish first cast!

Choppo, Devils Hoarse and tiny torpedo. Bone or green colors. Or any color that inmates Shiners or Shad

Crazy Shad or Devils Horse, about the only 2 I throw.

Cordell Boy Howdy and Crazy Shad.  Both in Smokey Joe.

Heddon Tiny Torpedo in Clear or Bullfrog color.

Dep’s  Buzzjet , no question. Either size works, they just catch fish

Love that you've switched to inline hooks!

I like the Buzzjet Jr.

I’ve been using inline hooks for 6-7 years. Fish don’t come unbuttoned once hooked and the biggest benefit is there’s no tangled mess when you net fish. Most of my friends have switched also

The Torpedo in various sizes. Black, yellow or white belly.

I have 6 Whopper Ploppers, asst. sizes and colors, they don't work for me either.  Bass in the Ozarks must be well schooled.

I love ploppers and choppos, but I don't consider them prop baits, because I don't fish them at all the same. So for the sake of argument, I'm not including them in this.

My favorite prop bait is a Yo-Zuri 3DB Series Prop in Matte Pearl Shad.

You will not find another prop bait that sounds like they do and something about them just drives the fish crazy. The plastic prop also spins very easily, so it takes very little to make it spin and create a disturbance.

The Berkley Spin Rocket in MF Shad, and the Devil's Horse in Chrome Black Back are also really good ones for double propped options.

Everyone loves to hate on the Whopper Plopper. YouTube declares it dead because the fish somehow recognize the sound and stopped biting even though every size makes a different sound. Pulleeeze! Look how many imitators there are and more are still coming out. The 110 size is a big mama catching machine. It was my #2 big fish catching bait of 2025 behind only the black/blue Yum Dinger. I'm of the opinion that if you throw it long enough it will eventually anger a fish into a bite. I caught one on it in February this year.

Beyond this, I love the usual ones, Devil's Horse and Torpedo, etc. But these seem more niche to me than the WP. It has worked for me when they weren't on a topwater bite. Maybe not in big numbers, but in size. And I'd rather catch one big bass than 10 dinks.
