  1. You got the cold weather worse than we did in the east. Next Monday they say the high temps will be closer to average. I'm hoping just for that.
  2. I occasionally fly fish for panfish at a local lake in the dead of summer when I've only got a few hours to fish. Its fun and the action is non-stop. Every once in a while I'll hook into a small LMB. One of these days I'm gonna go out and fish for smallmouth on a fly. After fighting them on conventional tackle I can't wait to see what they feel like on my 5 weight fly rod.
  3. Hangover cure???
  4. I'm shocked Beltzville was open. A lot of the smaller lakes are already frozen over. I bet ya he had to chip a few feet of ice from the shore to launch. You wouldn't catch me out there in these temps.
  5. ^^^This. Casting light weights has more to do with the rod than the reel. What might be happening is you are trying to cast the small lures too hard because of the rod and that is causing the backlash. Of course, this is just a guess. For light lures (1/4 ounce or less) I use a spinning rod that way I don't have to buy a special baitcasting rod just for light lures.
  6. A friend of mine with some of his and his son's trophies from a hunting trip to Africa.
  7. Sorry for your loss. Remember the good times with your dad. Those are the important days.
  8. I swear if it gets to 35 degrees here anytime soon everyone will be out in t-shirts, shorts and flip-flops. This is the longest cold weather patterns we have had since they started recording temps. Uggghhh.
  9. I was rooting for the Bungles as well but only because Joe Flacco is overrated and overpaid. I knew when they gave Flacco the big check the Ravens were going to have a problem competing because of it.
  10. Happy New Year and hope its a health one for you Michael.
  11. Menudo.....you know that's a boy band and not an entrée right???
  12. For me it depends on where I'm flipping or pitching into. If its lily pads I like Yamamoto Flappin' Hogs. The are more streamlined that traditional craws and can drop through heavy cover better. For more open areas I like Gene Larew's Salt Craws or a cheap alternative is Big Bite Bait's Big Craw. Both have good action under water.
  13. They are in it as a 6th seed team. Good luck.
  14. Feliz año Nuevo to you Raul.
  15. I spend most of my time surfing the internet for info on places I might go or places I would like to go to. Also its a good time to watch and rewatch videos about techniques or lures I could use during the open water season. But mostly I just pace back and forth between the front door and the end of the living room, waiting for the time when all the horrible snow and cold disappear and finally I'm released into the wild where I belong.
  16. Mary Poppins takes me back to being a kid at the local drive-in theater. I can't tell ya how many movies we saw but it was good times. Definitely a 10. This tune goes out to all us who are too cold to fish.
  17. If you think that is an odd question you should check out some of the other threads. They are down-right nutty. But its not unheard of to choose 4 or 5 basic baits and use those baits to cover all depths. I'm sure many fishermen do it and once they catch fish at a certain depth with a certain lure they then go about "fine-tuning" their presentation. Pro anglers do it nowadays to reduce the chance of overthinking which can lead to an angler "spinning out" or getting so frustrated that they lose focus. If you ever listen to pro anglers after a particularly bad tournament they will tell you they threw every lure at them but couldn't buy a bite. Its a good example of getting "spun out". Sometimes simplification is the way to go. Pros are starting to use this method more and more.
  18. I prefer Kate Upton but to each his own. Next you'll be telling us you had a crush on Betty Rubble.
  19. @AndrewJ I love the Cabin Creek Spiders for river fishing here in PA. Those on a football head jig are killers.
  20. I'm only 1 winning lottery ticket away from moving to Florida forever.
  21. Now I'm not only in the wrong state, I'm in the wrong country. Nice hawg @Jelvas
  22. I picked one, now what do I do with it????
  23. Really like the look of the Rust Craw. Nice new colors.
