Just wanted to drop in and say hi to you all. I'm not as active 'round these parts anymore. Haven't bought anything in about 5 month. Haven't had the boat out in almost 5 months. Really sucks, but it'

Hey Punch, how do the bibs fit.  I am 6’3 and 210 lbs. with long legs. I am thinking the large, but curious if they are long enough and how generous.  I wear a 33”-34” waist pant.  Thanks

I'm 6'2 and I wear a 36" pant and the Large bibs fit awesome. Simms is pretty true to size.

How 'warm' is the jacket? Would I need to wear additional clothes under it in the winter, or does it have sufficient insulation?
Thanks.

That entirely depends on where you live and what your idea of cold is.

The coat/bibs are NOT insulated but it's not a lightweight rain jacket. It's gore-tex so it's got some meat to it, gore-tex blocks the wind. I was just using them fishing in the rain/cold in October weather (45-50 degrees) in northern Minnesota. I wore regular pants under the bibs, and a long sleeve shirt & a quality midlayer under the jacket and I was perfectly warm.

I should make a quick video review.

Here guys.. put together a quick review & walk through of the rain suit:

If you want Simms insulated raingear, then the Challenger series is what you want.  Super warm and comfortable, 100% water and wind proof, and light weight.  Well designed, particularly around the boot to keep water out even if you step in deep water (like at a boat launch).

Currently not on sale though.

No more 30’s. That’s a crazy price. Fish for trout and bass so a 30 is what am looking for.

They sold out online and were subsequently taken off the website, but I happened to be in our local store last night and they had a few stock at the reduced price.  I picked up another model 30.

Edit: realized the original post wasn't included in the quotes.  This is the Pflueger President Spinning Reel in sizes 30 and 40 for $24.99 at Academy.

I picked up a 40 for the sale price. Thanks for the heads up.

You might have a bait monkey on your back if you spend most of your money on lures that you don’t even know what lures they’re going to be.

Refresh my memory but doesn't TW start the BF sale a day or two early?

I've been looking for a cheap spinning rod and saw this today.  Dick's has the Quantum Escalade spinning rods on sale for $33.97 right now, with free shipping.  From searching the site, several people seem to like them and they were apparently $100 rods initially.

It also qualifies for a "free" ($8 shipping and handling) Quantum long sleeved jersey promo that's currently going on.

I'm a Quantum defender...for their lines a few steps up.

I have had some entry-level Quantum spinning rods (and reels), though not that exact one.  My experience with them have been mostly disappointing.  Hopefully, you've got a Dicks close by and can handle one first.  I'd suggest you look at fishermanfactoryoutlet first.  They've got a few spinning rods in $30-60 price range that I am fairly certain would be better...but, no jersey

Actually it started the evening of the 22nd. Just checked my TW account order history.

Dick's has $20 of $100, and stacks with sale item rods that I looked at in the shopping cart.

Dobyn's Champion XP 704SF is $150 before tax with the $20 off. (MSRP $250)

Daiwa Tatula 7'2 MH/F TTU721MHFS is $82 before tax with the $20 off. (MSRP $150)

KTP has a couple of St Croix glass Mojo Bass casting rods marked down to 89.99 and shipping is free.  Looks like they are regularly 140.00

And they have a few models of the Daiwa Cronos for $99 each.

Dicks has 2 Tatula rods on sale:  Tatula medium cranking and Tatula frog.  You can buy both for the original price of one.  Pretty good deal, if they can be delivered in one piece.

Ok- the I've been really strong against the baitmonkey the last couple of months - and I have about a 50% success ratio ordering rods from Dicks.  But I'm a Daiwa fanboy, and I've wanted to try a nice glass cranking rod, and was just looking at the Tatula XT 7'4" as a frog rod for about the same money as this one.  Uggggggggh.  Here we go on the Roller-Coaster again.  In for one of each.

*edit* didnt even notice that today's online only $10 off every $50 you spend applied too.  It maxed out at $30 - but I'm out the door with one of each for $190 including tax.  That's less than $100/rod.  Sheesh.
