Mid diving crankbaits

Featured Replies

I have almost no mid diving crankbaits like wiggle warts I want to pick up a few of the best ones but don’t want to get the original wiggle wart for 40+ what are the best mid diving crankbaits

There are a lot of crankbait brands. Any of them will work.

I use strike king  series 3 the most. Mainly because nearly everyone sells them.

Academy h2o sxpress  are good economy crankbaits.

One of my favorites still today is the classic Rapala Fat Rap in the five foot zone . That lure flat out catches numbers .

I'm a big fan of the 3xd. Small "finesse" crank bait, but it casts well and can be thrown on a lighter powered medium heavy or regular powered medium rod.

Here's my current inventory list;

Norman:
Deep Little N~ 3/8oz (9'-12')
Norman Deep Baby N~ 1/4oz (6'-8')
Chili Bowl, Chart. Black Back, Chart. Shad, Chrome Black, Smokey Joe, White Ghost, Texas Shad, Splatter Bass, Humble Bee Perch, Lavender Shad
Bomber Fat Free Shad Fingerling~ 3/8oz (8'-10')
Chart. Shad, Emerald Sparkle, Foxy Shad, Green Ghost, D. Pearl White, Shadtreuse, D. Tenn. Shad, D. Pearl Shad, Ghost Shad, Foxy Lady, D. Citris Shad, Red Craw
Strike King 3XD~ 7/16oz (10')
Delta Red, Black Back Chart., Clear Sexy Shad, Gizzard Shad, Natural Shad, Sexy Ghost Minnow, Summer Sexy Shad, Chart. Shad, Green Gizzard Shad
Rebel Deep Wee R~ 1/4oz (8'-10')
Storm Original Wart~ 3/8oz (7'-12')
Nat. Red Craw, Phantom Red Craw, Phantom Green Craw, Moss Black Craw, Nat. Green Craw

I love and throw a lot of DWR's but didnt mention them because they are no longer available . My largest crankbait bass might have come on the Fat Free Fingerling .

For the money, Bandits 200's are hard to beat.

I have good luck with Bandit 200 series, and Norman Middle N. I used the originals. I don't know how good they are now that Pradco owns them.

If the OP puts an order in for all those he’ll be set for life. You took all the guess work out of it for him. TW will love him also.

BUT. You are to be commended for putting an impressive list like that together off the top of your head.

Just eyeballing the above, i think you got ~10 different brands mentioned.  If you're looking for consensus, you ain't gonna get it ?

What that says to me is that picking baits from any of the well-known companies will serve you just fine.  Don't overthink it.  Find baits in the price-point you're comfortable with, pick a few colors to cover your bases (perhaps a shad, a craw and something bright) and go fishing.

I would not concern myself about new versions vs. older versions. Still great baits, not very expensive, still available in older patterns and plenty of productive new patterns.

I have a handful of older baits. Really no desire to sell them but I certainly would not pay $40.00 for an old one. Some older Rapalas are pulling a decent price also. Rapala has plenty of fish catching stuff out there to not have to plink down that kind of cash.
