Like the title says, how long is your average fishing outing?

I fish from my yak and my average time on the water is about 7 hours, sometimes 8. If it wasn't for domestic obligations, I would want to stretch that a bit further. It's "grueling" in that I don't take any breaks and I'm always working a lure. My reels and my shoulder get a real workout. It's both physically and mentally demanding, but I still love it......

1 hr, 40 minutes fishing time - 20 minutes round trip travel time.  I usually go in the morning before work.

With our wildfire smoke and the wind events this spring. 5 hours.  By 1:00pm it’s too windy for kayak fishing. 
 

now, no wind but smoke. My eyes can’t take much more than four hours. 
 

good weather and no smoke, I like 8 hour days. It’s the longest I can go, barely eating. 

Boat, all day long.

 

Kayak, as long as my back can handle, usually at least 5-6 hours.

 

Bank, 2 hours. I have degenerative disc disease in my lumbar spine and it makes standing too long very uncomfortable and if it's a bad day, outright painful.

Usually try to be on the water before sunrise. 

 

Normally fish until lunch, or sometimes longer...depends on the "honey-do" list I have waiting for me when I get home : ) 

 

 

Boat trips - 3.5 to 4.0 hrs.

Bank trips - 1.5-2.0 hrs

 

...But I fish an average of 5-6 days a week.

 

I never arrive at the lake before Noon.

*Daylight in boat 7 - 8 hours

*Night in boat 10 - 12 hours

*Bank at my cow pasture pond everyday for 20 - 30 minutes while my dog runs around

I'm a bank guy...I'd say my average outing is 2-3 hrs. I usually fish 2-4 days a week. I have a buddy that just got into bass fishing and I've been teaching him. We have had several outings in the past month or two that have stretched to 4 or 5 hours.

0 to 1 hour. Usually time spent waiting to pick someone up from work or sports, lol. 

Usually 4-5 hours. 

My fly fishing trout wade trips are anywhere from 3-5 hours but my bank bass/crappie/bream/white bass trips are 8+ hours

I usually fish 6-8 hours. If I'm giving free reign like prefishing tournaments when I have sunup to sundown, that's what I do. I've had some 14-15 hour days on the water. 

3-4 hours on the water average for lake trips, but can range from about 1-6 hours.  A typical trip sees me out the door in the early morning to get on the water before dawn, and I'm back home or at work in the afternoon.  Longest trips are river floats which occasionally go as long as 8-10 hours, depending on the distance; more often 4-5 hours.

Spot I like to bank from 3 to 4 hours.

8-9 hours typically. Like a few others, i'd stay longer if I didn't have obligations in the evenings.

8-12 hrs depending on how long I feel like staying. I fish one to three days a week from ice out to ice over depending on my work schedule and family obligations.

8 hours on average always boat and some days I don't want to come off at all.

3-4 hours. Then my lower back is telling me it’s time to stop. Unless Im on a good bite, of course…

If I'm taking a day off during the week to go fishing it'll be 8-10 hrs. If I'm just going out on a weekend on my boat usually 4 or 5 hours. Quality of fishing also dictates those times either way, or sometimes I just can't take sitting out in the hot sun for more than a few hours.

I like to get out at daylight and then fish till 3 or so if I am fishing locally on the weekends.  I would fish longer if it wasn't for getting home to the family.  So 9-10 hours is the norm.  If I am on a multi-day trip I will often fish a shorter amount of time (6-7 hours) just to conserve energy especially if the bite isn't that great on that day.  

Years ago, if you went fishing with me we would start fishing before the sun went up and come back in the dark. The following day, we would do it all over again.

 

These days, I am into quality over quantity.  I'm never on the water before 8 AM.  The fish I'm looking for are not early risers.   I head for home right after lunch.  Except for night fishing, I catch most of my big fish around midday.

 

Roland Martin was once asked what his secret was to catching more fish?  He said "Go early and stay late".
