I actually had to go through my bag of worms and throw some in the sink to remember which one of the worms that I tried floats... it's the ZMan BangStickZ.  I tried to use them like a senko a couple of years ago, not knowing the difference but wanting a bait that stayed on the hook better.  I've learned a lot since (I threw my first senko ever into the water in 2020).  But my memory is no better. lol

I agree that’s why I dead drifted a wacky behind me while I fished to the bank with a jig yesterday.

I always have one rigged on deck but I have caught a total of one on it, and that one I spotted first on HB Live Imaging in some brush.

Wacky worm is killer for smallies. 1/16oz weighted wacky head is the way to go when there is current. Zoom finesse worms and Berkeley Bottom hoppers are my 2 go-to for smallmouth wacky rig. The roboworms wacky rigged often produce quick bites too. 

I had one of my best outings ever last night on the wacky rig. Didnt matter. Senko, TRD, finesse work. They hammered it. 3 15-16’s and an 18+. My son lost a nice one as well. Caught a bunch of little ones as well. It was some if the easist fishing ever. We anchored in the current off a rock wall with a big current break. 10ft of the break pitching the rig i to the pocket and playing it in the current. Water was less than a foot of vis but when they found it it was a done deal. My 6yr old son had the time of his life. He also graduated to boat partner apprentice they way he handled that net. He was interested in fishing before but now I think hes absolutely hooked. Its one of the easiest rigs for a kid to use. Going back tonight hopefully.

 

if you cant tell, I'm a-little jacked up still, mostly because he shared in the experience.

Ive used wacky rig senko's for largemouth for more time than I can admit to.

Last three years Ive been solely chasing smallies. My main lake has been Ned, Drop shot, small swimbaits like dark sleepers and shakey head. They have produced great fish.

But this year I broke out the ole Senko rod, and went to wacky rig even though many of the old timers up here say they dont work as well.

I log all my fishing days and so far this year I have exceeded in numbers and in weight easily.

I caught one 5lb fish last year on a shakey head, so far this year on a wacky senko Ive got half a dozen 5s, and a 6.4.

Love senko fishing. Its an excellent way to hunt brown backs!

I am in the same boat when in comes to wacky rigs. It's basically my skunk free rig when I've tried everything else.
