My stomach is on fire. My meal after a tough fishing trip.

You know how Blanchard eats In&Out when he doesn’t fish well?   Well, I don’t love burgers.  Me?  “Botanas de Marisco”.  Bounty of the sea seafood cocktail.  I forgot to tell them to put the chili flakes on the side.  It’s a shot glass of red pepper flakes on top.  I already stirred it in for the pic.  Oh boy.  Tomorrow is gonna burn.  Haha.   When the CA Delta beats me into submission I crave it.  I treat myself to a decent meal.

it is yummy tho.  Probably should put a roll of toilet paper in my freezer.

I did not get skunked, but hitting the road at 3:30 am was not worth it.  :)

do you have a after-tough fishing meal?

For me, I'd take a double cheese burger from in and out any day. Yummmm

Slice of lemon pie takes care of hot chili pepper.

*a tip from Chili Johns.

I'm getting over strep throat.  Today if the first day in a few that it doesn't hurt to eat.   I had Pizza from a real Italian restaurant for lunch and a juicy rib eye from my grill for Supper.  (Dinner for non southerners  LOL)

After I get skunked , it’s chil cheese tots from Sonic . And maybe a strawberry shake.

Good thing I don’t. I’ve been getting skunked so often lately I’d be huge.

Yup ~

I don't do it often but when I do . . . . .

It's an Extra Large Stuffed crust Pie with x-tra cheese, Portabella Mushrooms & Italian Sausage.

I don't get skunked often thankfully but it does happen. To right the ship after I usually just consume 3 glasses of whiskey...after the 2nd one I don't remember getting skunked...after the 3rd one I dont remember going fishing.

Hotdogs with hot Chow Chow & chips or a Sloppy Joe stack. Homemade oatmeal cookies occasionally.

Easy. Fish.

I go to the market, select a fish, and tell the merchant to wrap it and toss it to me. Guess what? I caught a fish! For dinner! ?

Man, I love me a good meal. But I don’t think I have something so specific as a “I Got Skunked” dish that I crave. It can run the gamut from a simple ham and Swiss on rye to a NY strip Pittsburgh medium-rare. Which I had for lunch and dinner yesterday.

But I didn’t get skunked, so…?

Hot dogs with sauerkraut, meat sauce and raw onion.

A guy had a hot dog cart at the boat launch of one of my favorite lakes for a few years and I would always get a few after fishing. Now every time I’m on my boat, whether the fish are biting good or not I will start to crave hot dogs and some spicy kraut.

Tell you what I do NOT do and that is punish myself like Greg Blanchard does by sitting in a In n Out drive-thru for 30-45 minutes waiting for a tiny burger and soggy fries. He said he spent 45 minutes in line before and I believe that.

The In n Out near me constantly has 25-30 cars in line snaking around the parking lot. Half hour easy. I could cook a burger and come back and still see the same people in line!

"Here's your sign!"

Edit to add: I skunk all the time in my local waters. I just go home.

I do it the other-way around, the food is a reward for doing well that day.

I wouldn’t say I necessarily plan my fishing trips around food, but every fishing spot has a corresponding food spot that I can hit on the way home.

Those are the bomb.  Does sonic have good chili?  Not really.  But it all comes together nicely in the chili-cheese tots.

When I was fly fishing more than boat fishing, I would wade the Shenandoah and it was a tradition on the way home through the Blue Ridge mountains, I would stop at a roadside custard stand.  After a hot day guide trip in my boat, I would stop at the corner store by the lake for a Code Red Mountain Dew and a bag of cheese curls.?

I get jalapeños and onion on top just for a little added kick. Mmm. I can’t wait to get skunked again. Galb
