Bank, Boat, Kayak

How do most of you guys fish for smallies? I have a 10.5 foot kayak that I take downriver to fish most of the time. It is pretty comfortable, and I can cover lots of water.

Yep.

Same as you. I launch my kayak on the local river, pedal a few miles upriver, then drift back. It's fun to fish areas I usually wouldn't stop for and find there's fish there.

Mostly boat and kayak. My biggest this year have been from my kayak.

Kayak, almost always on a river of some sort.

Also wade fishing. It's quite fun in the summer.

I bank with waders on and end up chest deep in river or lake.

In the philippines they use dynamite from a small baranka boat and cyinide while snorkeling in the water.

The process of cyanide fishing itself indisputably wreaks havoc on coral reefs. The divers crush cyanide tablets into plastic squirt bottles of sea water and puff the solution at fish on coral heads. The fish often flee into crevices, obliging the divers to pry and hammer the reefs apart to collect their stunned prey.

Though dynamite fishing in the Philippines has declined from its peak in the 1980s and 90s, the country's fisheries bureau estimates there are still 10,000 incidents every day. This illegal fishing method flattens reefs and indiscriminately kills any animal in the blast radius, including rare whales and dolphins.

None of the above. Wade fishing for me!

Bank and kayak.  I don't own a boat anymore.  Though, for smallmouth, it's almost always kayak, as it's hard to target smallmouth from the bank where I live.  And no waders.  You will get stuck in the mud trying to do that.

Bank/wade fishing and kayak. Kayak was a recent addition for 2022, I'm having a lot of fun with it!

Anyway I legally can

wade/bank fishing for me.

Bank and float tube. Rip rap bridges and adjacent coves have been good to me lately, caught this one on Tuesday on a kvd finesse spinnerbait.

Since selling my boat I bank/wade fish.

Recently have been seriously considering a Kayak. I know nothing about the operation or methods but have a nice small river really close I wade and would love to be able to fish more of it in a day.

Used to wade rivers and I have a kayak that I only use in small lakes.  All of my smallie fishing is from a boat.

90% of my smallie fishing is on Lake Michigan either around Chicago or on the bays up north- Green Bay, Bays de Noc, and Grand Traverse Bay.    There's a couple inland lakes in northern Michigan that I smallmouth fish and a local river leading out to Lake Michigan that I smallie fish late and early in the season.

Bank mostly, followed by kayak and rarely by boat.
