You inherit Warren Buffett's estate. What do you build or buy?

A cabin in the pines, with a small lake to fish. Out in the sticks somewhere.

Same here. I’d give it away.

I’ve been so poor I was homeless at one point and I’ve had mid-5 figures in my bank account (that’s a lot where I come from), and I’ve learned you experience the same spectrum of emotions with money or without.

I'm not sure what part of hookers and blow you are having trouble understanding... :)

Warren Buffet money?  I'd buy my entire home lake.

I have been fortunate enough to do every thing, go every where and buy every thing I ever wanted, so I would give it all away.

I'd buy out as many of the companies that produce aquatic herbicide as I could.

And turn them into A-Jay's Custom Bait & Tackle Emporium.

Specializing in 1/2 price Megabass products.

I would rather have Elon's money.

Just a little homestead on a lake in the mountains. Somewhere I can grow my own food, live off the land, fish whenever I want.

Get kids off electronics and out fishing.   Not fortunate enough to have kids of my own,  yet anyway.   So gotta give back somehow.

The mtns down here won’t grow anything but moonshine.

The neighborhood backyard raised beds seem to produce better

Moving a little bit west of the Smokey Mountains, we grow rocks and trees.

I think Warren Buffet has already given all his money to Bill Gates.

Almost all his money is slated to go to the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation as he has been donating to them for the last 10 years or so. Money left to his children go to their charitable foundations already in place. So what ever is left will not amount to much for all you fantasizers.

He's #2 to Bezos. Buffet is #7. The top 8 are all worth over 100 billion.

I believe I'm a fairly decent human being because I'm poor.  If I were super rich, I doubt that would hold.

I'd buy mansions in nice neighborhoods and set them up as homeless shelters.  Not to help the homeless, but to anger the neighbors.  I'd buy a monster truck just to run over random cars in parking lots, because it wouldn't mean anything for me to replace hundreds of cars a day.  I'd buy property just outside of large neighborhoods with powerful HOA's and build smut museums to tank their property value and stick a thumb in the eye of their HOA.  I'd want immediate and devastating revenge for every perceived slight.

So I would hope that if I ever came across that much money, I'd give it all away before I became corrupted by it.  I might keep enough to pay off some bills, mortgages and maybe start a small business.  But the rest of it needs to go in order to save myself from myself and a self-righteous crusade against all things not centered around me.  Once I got used to getting whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, I don't think there's any coming back.

I wouldn't need much, at this point a 'measly' 1-1.5 million and I'd be able to retire with no worries.

Hahahaha that’s awesome. HOAs are ridiculous. I got out in 2010 and lived in a hole in a tree for 5 years

I remember thinking Buffet was a pretty decent human, that's sad to hear.

I would buy the biggest, most tricked out bass boat the world has ever seen. Then I would borrow my brother in law’s pickup truck to pull it to the lake.

I would buy all the fake news media....move their operations out of N.Y. and L.A. to wherever people are honest and decent, and staff them with honest and decent people.

I can tell you from experience, retiring with no worries is a myth.  Your kids, your spouse, your future, potential illness, even the daily news will worry you.  No amount of money will keep this from keeping you up at night.  The best way to prevent this is to put all your worries in God's hands.  Only then will you have true peace.  Works for me....

I'd build a space station without TVs or radio, but with a spectacular bass lake. I might even shuttle a few of you jokers up occasionally to fish it as long as you promised not to burn my spot.?

My HOA is actually pretty cool.  They don't have any silly rules and the cheap dues (about $100 a year) mostly go towards nightly patrols and the occasional road maintenance plus this section of grass along the entrance.  But I've heard enough horror stories to know how lucky I am.

I would not mind a moderator deleting this thread. I started with building a bass pond or building on a bass lake if money didn't limit the options and the thread wandered off into hookers, God, politics, HOAs, and blow. I was actually looking forward to reading what other bass fishers would build or buy, i.e. their dream set-up.

C'mon, local lakes, melt!
