The whopper plopper. Bought several when the hype went through the roof a few years back. But all it does is shut the bite down every time. I could catch more fish with a Texas rigged baseball ba

Years ago, a Musky Jitterbug was all we used when night fishing in the Everglades.  You have to fish it where big bass are common enough to eat food that large.  It's a mouthful.  Alligators like it t

Whopper plopper catches every blade of grass preventing the tail from spinning.

the whopper plopper, especially the bigger ones dive into the water about a foot when they land.  they always come up twisted up in the grass.  super frustrating.  but i have seen some explosive bites on my friends attempts.  i hate the things.

Speaking of strange lures, anyone ever fished with this?  Sponsor of the FLW Tour!  Seriously?

Nope but I did see a small bass or bream snatch one flying at water level yesterday. I was impressed

it has been 2 Feb/March/Aprils with zero catches.

FWIW I caught my A-rig bass in December and January.

The venerable Beetle Spin.  I've been fishing with them off and on for around 50 years and I've only caught one fish on that bait.

You must be rainbowing that puppy - roll cast it and have it gently hit the water.

Fingers crossed it’s not the Megabass Magdraft I just bought.

Can't swing a dead cat in my tackle room without hitting a disappointment/failure....what in hell was I thinking when I should have been thinking "Get the hell away from that credit card, bruh" ?

It’ll catch fish for sure. Just no durability. I’m not a big fan of being told to use mend It and make It a freestyle after one fish.

I really only have 2.  Both made by the same company.  The rapala DT series and the rapala otts garage.

the DT series I can’t figure out why.  I can throw them all day and then switch it out for another crank and catch fish. Maybe I’ve just been fishing them too early in the year.

the otts series I believe it’s more to do with the lakes that we have up here or atleast around me.  Those seemed to be made for bouncing off of rocks in up to 6ft of water in huge resivours.  We have 1000’s of smaller to medium sized natural lakes in the state of Michigan.  Which, the bottom consists of the 1-6ft range mainly consists of sand with little no rocks and lots of weeds. It seems like they catch more weeds than a normal crank/square bill.  Now I have not tried them in the large river systems near my house which, consists of the titabawassee, Shiawassee, and Saginaw rivers.  In the last 1.5 years I have transitioned from that to lake fishing.

I’ve got rough ten DT-10’s and DT-15’s.  Rough ten combines of the OG-4’s and og’6.  If they are not producing by this time next year they are going down the road to make room for somthing that does.

Anyone else get excited to try something, go over board, then end up with bunch of duds that you have zero confidence in?

off the top of my head-

8” smashtech with 10/0 beast hook

yamatanukis

tubes

5” bellow gills

dark sleepers

Centipede (French fry) plastics

10” bull worms (HUGE!)

fyi, make someone a heck of a trade for dark sleepers and coffee tubes.

The Zoom french fry was a hot c-rig bait in the early 90's....caught me many fish.

Lol surprised it took 5 days for you to see!

I will add the Smokin Rooster is a favorite of mine too.

Jackall's topwater chatter/wakebait. It'll run right for about ten feet of the retrieve.

Storm Wildeye Live Sunfish or Bluegill. They just don't work (for me).

Chatter bait , I can get on a Rage blade but never have had much luck on Chatter bait

I'll jump on the chatter bait and whopper plopper list, although I probably haven't given them enough throws to write them off yet. Sounds like my NC brothers like Seibert bladed jig,, so the bait monkey requires me to order that on my next order. ?

I will not stand for this Chatterhate! ?

Right now for me it's the 13 Fishing Jabberjaw. Haven't thrown it a ton, but zero interest from fish when I do. Tried various retrieves and nothing yet. Seen other guys killing it on it so I'll keep it in the rotation for now and try to figure it out.

Are you talking about the riser bait? That thing was a total bust for me. Seems very situational and isn't going to attract anything but wildly active feeding bass.

Regarding whopper ploppers, I hadn’t used em a lot, hadn’t had luck on em, and then sometime around the spawn last year@Deleted account said “you should be throwing that.” So I said okay, and proceeded to get my biggest topwater explosion in NY (lost that big fish unfortunately) and I landed three other decent ones

I don't recall the name and it's not on TW anymore. It looked like a chatterbait with a really long and bent blade.
