I took the grand kids to Disney World  yesterday, 96 deg with 60% humidity

It was so bad it was hard to breathe.

We kept darting in and out of stores to cool the kids down as best we could.
I bought them fans and cooling towels just to walk around.
Forget about standing in line.

If I was on the water I’d probably still be passed out!!😵

I went fishing on Saturday.  The early morning wasn't too bad, but after about 9:00 am it heated up quick.  By the time I got home I had salt stains on my face and in my t-shirt.

Summer in south Louisiana is brutal. The heat index is 108 today and we have another heat alert tomorrow.

The on my time I fish now is at night. We usually get a slight break in mid-September. That’s when I’ll start fishing during daylight hours again.

I believe we’ve now been 90 or above 32 of the last 41 days, with 40 of those 41 days over 85. At least 2 more 90+ days in the forecast. Dew points have been bad, city lakes close by sunset, so I haven’t been fishing in nearly 2 months. Waiting on fall and winter to arrive 🥶

Pretty sure I would simply whither away.

I do better in much lower temps.

I’ve been in the process of moving for the past two weeks and the new spot has a 15 acre pond in the backyard and I just caught my first big fish this morning.

Up to 20 or so fish under 2 pounds in the past two weeks.

This beautiful 6 lber was just the confidence boost I needed.  Steady 10mph winds this morning and casting a free rig culprit 10” red shad ribbon tail directly into shade got her.

Her tail is bloody and stomach is deflated from recent spawning on the new moon this past week!

I went on Saturday morning too for about 3 hours and by 9:30 here I had enough.

We have a possible derecho coming tonight which is pretty serious weather.  But the rest of the week looks stunning.  Highs in the upper 70's.  My kind of summer weather.

Just dropped $500(20 Vision 110's) to the A/C guy to replace a capacitor and service my unit. The house is slowly cooling from 84.

Did you watch the guy replace the capacitor? Do you know where it’s located? They’re less than $20 on Amazon and a 15 minute DIY project. Just match the numbers in the capacitor when you order. When your AC unit goes down, usually it’s the fuse or capacitor. I keep spares of both handy.

Glad you got that taken care of.

84 in a house is smoking hot !

I’ve fished a couple times in the past two weeks. Both times I got overheated. Caught some 3lbers to make up for it…

2 weeks ago, I was in the water at 6:30 and my kayak was strapped back down and I was headed south at 8. Just too miserable…

Yes, he's a friend. He also put 1.5 lbs($150 a lb) of coolant in it and cleaned the coils. The air coming out the vent is 61, so my wife's happy, so I'm happy. But I do appreciate the info.

Temp was 98 and heat index was 121 around 2pm according to.my weather station. To hot to do anything outside for a few days but supposed to be in the lower 90's later in the week.

I believe we've had the hottest stretch that I can remember, ever.

Did manage to fish a few mornings on 2 separate bodies of water.

Surface water temps were 86 and 90.

I’ve been launching at 3:00 AM and going back on the trailer by 10:00 AM for the last month or so. We don’t have the humidity, but 105 is still hot enough for me to become nocturnal.

We fished a Tuesday nighter a couple weeks ago and it was still 102 at 9:00.

Got my annual week trip to Gaston this weekend. Thankful it looks like the temps drop to the 70s and 80s. Don't even care what it does to the fish at this point, at least ill be able to breath.

It's actually been so bad this year it made me and the wife consider a relocation to PA.

Can we make this a “hot weather clothing recommendation thread”? I use Columbia PFG tamiami 2 shirts and some type of Columbia shorts. Sometimes I have to wear pants fishing from the bank because of the mosquitoes.

What do you all wear?
