Tribute to Tom (WRB)

Tom discussed his favorite jig color in here a few years ago. Black, purple and brown.

So I decided to tie a couple in his honor.

I started with a @Siebert Outdoors Shot Caller jig head ( I think they are the best head design for grass and pads) and tied with black on top, purple in the center and brown at the bottom (per Tom’s description).

Tied one each with a black head and a green pumpkin head.

What do ya’ll think?

Nicely done. I hope you catch a fish like one of Tom's big ones on them.

Nice! I learned a lot about how to fish jigs from Tom.

That is pretty nice! I learned a lot about jig fishing from Tom a lot about fishing in general from him.

Tom sent me a sketch on how to rig the Slip Sinker Rig. He was a world of fishing knowledge.

That's a good looking jig.

Nice! I got some jigs from Tom for secret Santa. I refuse to fish them…

To those that received jigs from Tom, would you mind taking a picture of it from the side so I can see exactly how he made them?

I fortunately never got a chance to get one of his jigs😢

I’m out of town for the next couple of weeks. When I get home, I’ll snap a few and send

I purchased two reels from Tom. They are special to me and reminders of a giving guy who loved to share.

Ive been off the forum for a couple of years, what happened to Tom?

He was always quick to respond to my posts and such a knowledgeable dude!!

I hadn't heard that about Tom. Sorry to hear that. Even with him gone, I'm still learning from him.

What is that jig on top called? Did he ever discuss how he made it?

I’m not positive if tom ever made any of the top jig. But they are called a puff ball jig.

I’d love to make some of these and put one with my retired lures I have hanging up. Since tom was such an insight and helpful the entire time I’ve been on bass resource. How many strands total did you make them and that shotcalller is a nice jig head for grass for sure. Beautiful tribute to him.

Yeah, not sure if that one was a handmade or not. I can’t remember (I’m out of town) what exactly it looks like. I’m thinking by it might be a purchase vs a handmade.

Shot caller is the best head and comes through pads like butter.

As for the skirts, I have (2) 22 count skirts ( which equals 44 x 2 when tied and laid back) and another half skirt (11x2) on the black so 2.5 x 22.

Yeah I use some of those heads as well. They just aren’t purchased as shot callers from siebert thats all. Thank you for the strand count I assumed it was close to 2.5 tabs.

@Columbia Craw - I also had purchased a few reels from Tom - he put a nice handwritten note in the box - I have kept that note and each time I catch a fish with one of those reels I point to the sky and say "Thank you Tom" - he shared his expertise and love of fishing with all of us
