Anxiety and depression
Talk about it. Have a professional help you through talking about it. Recognize that it’s not bad or good, and it’s something that is part of you. It’s like the size of your feet or the color of your hair. Accept it and work with it but don’t let it control you.

You ever hire a complete stranger to watch your animals at your house while you are away?
We’ve used people off of Rover before to care for our cats/dog. No issues. We have had more fails with people we know than total strangers.

Coping with chronic heart ache ~
They just know. And they’re there, no matter what. Reminds me of someone. I hope she can rest and feel better.

Brussel Sprouts - how to cook them?
If you want less potential bitterness, half them and steam for 5 min. Then spray with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and roast at 450 until a little crispy. I like cut side up. If they’re super fresh and smaller than ping pong balls you can skip the steaming. After roasting, drizzle on or toss in your favorite sauce. I like them plain or with a little chili flake and some Sweet Baby Ray’s Terryaki.

I Don't Understand This
I JUST WANT EVERYONE TO GET OFF MY LAWN!!! There’s some truth to a lot of things in this thread, and a lot of opinions/assumptions/extrapolations with no empirical basis. But feelings and experiences count too. I still see the same variability in work ethic be it in our interns or our people who have been on the job 20 years. And that hasn’t changed in the 30 years I’ve been working. My first boss was happy to pay me double time on overtime to do the jobs they didn’t want to do. I try to worry about me and who’s coming with me.

Working to Stay Lean ~
I did a Murph this morning. I didn’t make it to 100 pull ups. I also didn’t video any of it. It’s 90+ and humid today - it looked like I was melting by the end of the second mile.

hot dogs
It’s fun to watch the start but then it just gets disgusting. You can see the pain on their faces as the cram it down. 60 dogs is about 16,000 calories- about 8 days worth of eating in 10 minutes. Yowzah! It’s weirdly impressive but I always go back to the saying - Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. btw - I could probably get a dozen in in ten minutes. Not proud of it; it just is.

Did you know...
I really didn’t know that! ??

Stable kayaks
I’ve fished from several kayaks from a Dagger Delta (small sit inside) up to a Nucanoe Frontier (absolute battleship). Go get some time in it paddling in water shallow enough to stand in. Do things to tip it just to see where that point is. If it’s your first trip in your first kayak, give it some time to learn the boat and learn what you’re doing.

Bass Boat Advice for Charlotte, NC area
Let me start with - you’ll be great either way with aluminum. The only reason I’d go glass is if you think you’ll be doing Norman and Badin more than the others. The lakes here just aren’t that big, and they’re mostly somewhat riverine. Aluminum is easier to tow to get around, and I’ve not been in anything my little aluminum couldn’t handle locally. Now, they are not big lakes and they can get a lot of traffic in the summer that a heavier glass boat would be more steady on. But for the amount of time that the lakes are truly busy, I don’t think it offsets the ease in towing and handling of a good aluminum. Ymmv

Wading for catfish...
I do a lot of drifting and pulling for catfish…it’s mostly replaced bass fishing for me on my major lakes. Great action and fish from 2 lbs up to 40+. It’s as great time.

Do you find it difficult to work tubes properly from a kayak in a river?
It’s not accurate. It’s arbitrary and really kind of a silly blanket statement. Try both the next time you have your kayak out on the river and see which you prefer. But they’re definitely not the same technique

Toddler life jackets
It was mentioned above but go to BassOro/Cabelas/Academy/whatever store you have with a decent selection and let them try them on. Fit is crucial in the event they end up in the water, as is the buckle that goes between or around their legs. The proportions of their little bodies will let them slip out the bottom of vests.

First time saltwater fishing on vacation
Depending on where you’re going, look for passes where the ocean meets inter coastal waterways and or rivers. Paddle tails in white or orange or pink, redfish spinnnerbaits, spooks/spooklike walkers, and saltwater jerkbaits. I always have a white soft plastic jerkbaits tied on as a follow-up lure.

How Many Rebuilds On Your Gas Grill ?
I’m soon to be on my third grate and heat deflectors for my Spirit. I need to do the starter too but I just light it. We’ve had it over 7 years and it gets used 2-3 times a week year ‘round.

Fitness anyone?
Canseco was a ridiculous hitter, but definitely NOT a rocket scientist.

Fitness anyone?
^^^ This is the way. Consistency and nutrition. You have to make it a habit and consistent part of your life. Weight is about calories in/out. Strength is about challenging your muscles and giving them the nutrition they need. Unlike some gurus would lead you to believe, it’s not rocket science. The important part is doing it.

Striper fishing fighting advice
If it’s that tight and under the boat I free spool it and use my thumb until I can get a little better control. Best to start with your drag a little loose than too tight with stripers.
