  1. I don't have a preference, and honestly don't know the position of the nose after I rip it. I usually just tie on a couple of my favorites and see which one gets more bites.
  2. Solid smallmouth! Haven't seen you around much since 'Fight Club'.
  3. Well, the Emeraldas air would match the nrx nicely. My only gripe would be that the xh gear(6.2) holds 150m of 6lb line....a little more than I want for 6lb. 80-100yds is perfect. Is this aluminum or zaion framed?
  4. Comes with a factory yumeya spool. 165 grams and holds 90m of 10lb line. Digiaka has them up, but no stock yet. https://fish.shimano.com/ja-JP/product/reel/baitlurecasting/a075f00003k1ldfqa2.html
  5. The carolina rigged 4" zoom lizard used to be a staple for me. That and the zoom french fry....I need to get myself reaquainted with them.
  6. Ran across some clearance little john's for $7 and cleaned them out. Threw in my first rock crawler for good measure.
  7. One big problem to overcome is price as a perception of quality. The 'price' pricing strategy...i.e. the more expensive it is, the better it is perceived to be, and also the opposite where cheaper priced products are believed to be inferior. I don't have an answer on how to overcome this. I believe Ark has a rod close to $100 with a 40T Toray blank. Value that would be hard to beat.
  8. I use a medium powered spinning rod...currently a Tatula 6'6"M rated 1/8-3/4oz with 8lb Sniper. 2 years ago or so, an elite pro set the BASS all-time weight record on lake Fork using a Tatula elite 7'ML RB casting rod with 12lb fluoro. He alternated between the vision 110 and an unnamed duo realis jerkbait.
  9. I vote X-rap. I won a club tournament the first time I ever used it. Sure it was only a 9 boat tournament, but it was day 2 of an early spring cold front, and I had a limit while only 1 other fish was weighed in. It was the 'rap....it kicked everyone's butt.
  10. Thanks dude!
  11. Same. I do have some 832 that I haven't tried yet. I love low memory line, but it was 'too much of a good thing' I guess. Braid made me realize I'm a slack line fisherman....I usually have a bow in my line while wormin'/jigging which doesn't work for feeling bites on braid.
  12. They are out of stock most everywhere. Tells you something I suppose.
  13. I picked up 2 of these at Dick's on sale last year and tossed them in my jerkbait box. Going through my jerkbait box yesterday checking hooks and testing rattles, I ran across them again. They don't have a rattle. This surprised me because even without a rattle installed, the weight transfer ball will move slightly and make a subtle tick. That's when I noticed the baits didn't have a weight transfer system. What?! Did I pick up a special silent model or something?
  14. Very nice aaron. A lot of anglers here need to fly to Mexico to catch bass that size. There are 10's here in Oklahoma, but very rare.
  15. Must be why TW is all sold out of pointer 65's. I grew up fishing in a bass club out of Joplin, and enjoyed the missouri jerkbait fishing.
  16. I use the 'peg-it' rubber deals. You can easily move them up or down the line if I want the split shot/carolina rig effect. https://www.academy.com/p/top-brass-tackle-peg-it-sinker-pegs?gmc_feed=t&campid=71700000087427731&adgroupid=58700007424094169&device=m&keyword=92700066706370436&Channel=ps&&ogmap=SEM|PLN|GOOG|SHOP|m|OUT||Non-Brand-SmartShopping-Outdoor-Stream|Stream|||&gclid=Cj0KCQiAu62QBhC7ARIsALXijXR21kb00N98SuS-1EOLDcBs94tK48qgAeftN7ibcrNh80mrervdL3AaAnvbEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
  17. It's a pitchin' stick. Spool up some 15-20lb line and pitch whatever tickles your fancy.
  18. LC 1.5 in Copper perch? Good one for sure. Not sure I could narrow it down to just one. I love several LC, bagley, and WEC baits.
  19. Gene Larew 8" hooktail worm (hand poured) Berkley power jig with the rattle built into the head.
  20. I feel like I hit some sort of jackpot. I'm a big fan of the lucky craft BDS series (big daddy strike, fyi) that was discontinued years ago and will check ebay from time to time to see if I can scrounge one up (mainly bds1's & 2's). TW did start selling the 2's and 3's again last year in limited colors, but no 1's or 4's. I happened to check ebay last week and ran across the usual $50 bds1's so I decided to check some simmons lucky craft auctions. Not only did I run across several auctions for bds1's, but they were in LC's hottest new colors. I about fell out of my chair. I also ended up budding on seversl pointers and LV300's that were to cheap to pass up. Most exciting bait purchade in years, maybe ever.
  21. I still believe fishing is one of the least expensive hobbies. A lot of us make it expensive, but it doesn't need to be.
  22. As someone whom bought and sold rods quite a bit...I had been a long time rod wrap user to keep my handles pristine. Not as 'permanent' as U40 and my cork was chalky new when I took the wrap off. However, rod wrap wasn't waterproof and would start fraying after some use. Last year I stumbled on the greatest handle tape I've ever used. It's called Fusion grip tape, and it is silicone, non-advesive tape that bonds to itself and forms a waterproof barrier. It's grippy and looks sleek. Here it is on a foam handle (abu villain) I also use clear heat shrink tubing, but mainly because I like the two-tone black/cork combo. Here is a Daiwa BLX with fusion tape and heat shrink.
  23. Started doing most of my grocery shopping at Aldi. I've saved quite a bit of coin the past couple years.
  24. I love my Daiwas, but for moving baits where distance is needed...I go with a centrifugal braking system. Concept Z's are what I'm running.
  25. Regardless of your choice, I'd practice pitchin' in your backyard. When I was a kid, I stood on a milk crate and pitched to targets I had set up at different distances.
