  1. Helix G3N Mega SI and DI models are Mega Live compatible: https://humminbird-help.johnsonoutdoors.com/hc/en-us/articles/4419729585303-MEGA-Live-Compatibility I think the only major difference is that G4N Helix's have WiFi, but performance wise both use the same processor. Call Humminbird, they are very responsive and you'll get a live agent.
  2. I have both the Benkei 6'7L and 6'5UL. They both have the same action, and really don't load up when you're casting a 1/8oz lure like a noodle trout rod would. But the 6'5 definitely handles a 1/8oz lure better than the 6'7 but with the right reel, a shallow spooled BFS reel. I have creek fished with a 1/16oz johnson minospin with the 6'5, and it casted pretty well and I'd say that is the more realistic lower range, not 1/32. I've caught 20" redfish with the 6'5UL and it handled them just fine. I also have the MC Volkey 6'7L with a Curado BFS, and this is my 1/4oz perch/shad rod. It has a more parabolic action than the Benkei series.
  3. I'll probably go the cheapo Amazon route in 2 years as well, and by then they'll be the same price as the Duracell AGM 31's I got 3 years ago.
  4. Quick afternoon hike at Swains southbound. First thing I noticed was the lock was removed, but they had huge sandbags blocking the canal. That was not good since there was very very little water flow coming in....and what I saw was not good. The entire stretch from Swains to Great Falls Park is down 2-3 feet, and there's a construction gangway at the very north end of the GF parking lot. Not sure what they are working on now, but it seems like they're always working on something south of Great Falls lock that keeps things low. The main river was raging a double chocolate mocha. Swains: Just north of Great Falls: Main River: I did manage 1 decent LMB on the Z-Man HellraiZer, 2 other dinks and 1 huge blow up missed. This lure is a lot of fun.
  5. It's permanent. If I ever sell, I'll have it listed through MLS and they'll have their own pictures.
  6. I usually leave my garage open in the summer for my boys to run in and out of and the Google car snapped a picture of stuff in my garage that I don't really want people knowing about. No...not a whiskey still or anything, just my boat and rods/reels and tackle. I noticed another house down the street had their Google Map view blurred so I found this and it was easy to do. So now my house, garage, and car driveway are blurred. Here's how to do it. https://mashable.com/article/how-to-blur-your-house-on-google-street-view
  7. I like it with the feather. When you're walking the super spook and then you kill it, you'll see the feather tail slowly fall and spread out from the lure and I think that can help trigger bites for fish that follow and are curious but aren't committed.
  8. Thanks! Looks like a few online retailers sell it, but in black but that works for me!
  9. I've thrown a C-Rig once or twice, but I'm going to be more committed to it this month. I want to make something similar to these pre-made rigs, but I don't like the wire and want to recreate it without it. What's the circular brass piece called between the two lower red beads, can't seem to find it on Amazon.
  10. Paper plane, very easy to sip.
  11. Do you care if it's spinning or casting?
  12. I have the TFO Pro Series MH and H spinning rods. They're rated Mod/Fast and I really like that action on these. They're on par with sensitivity with Daiwa Tatula rods in my experience, but not super sensitive. For the money, I think they're a good value.
  13. RIP. My roommates and I would schedule our classes around Jerry Spring Show and the Price Is Right back in college.
  14. Laphroaig 10 Sherry Finish - classic peated scotch forepalate with a softer sweet finish, this is a good starter in a peated scotch voyage Ardbeg Corryvreckan - quintessential peated scotch at cask strength Lagavulin 16 - Aahhhh, my favorite for under $100, a smooth, heavy body Islay that coats the palate and lingers in the finish. All of these are under $100 MSRP, but actual pricing in your local store may vary unfortunately.
  15. When the bass are looking up and willing to chase, which for my body of water is about 75+ degree water, a moving tide, spatterdock pads, and hydrilla. I really like to parallel it along pad edges, or when the hydrilla forms edges where the bass are usually waiting in ambush next to open water. I have seen them bust through hydrilla, but it's usually a bite in the open water next to the cover.
  16. A shot of whiskey before a speaking event, and I can't shut up, my version of Toastmaster. Kind of more serious, avoid "uhms", "you know", and other filler words. A slight blank silence sounds way better than using a lot of filler words, record yourself speaking and you'll see it's night and day when you remove them and just talk slower or have small gaps between thoughts.
  17. Yep, when I first gave getting on the water a more serious thought, I rented a sit on top fishing kayak from a local place and used it 3 times before deciding a boat was more suited for me. My lower back could just not handle being seated like that for more than a couple hours before it would start to spasm. Then I thought maybe a peddle would alleviate the problem by getting my to spots faster. So I tried a friend's Native Slayer and it was HEAVY to carry and launch, which basically killed my back before I even got to the water. I'm glad I was able to test out that style of fishing, and while I really enjoyed it mentally, I wasn't able to do it physically and bought a small fiberglass boat that I could push around my garage easily. Glad I didn't splurge right off the bat for an expensive pedal/motorized kayak.
  18. Evan Williams BiB for $20 is a good option too. But I’m at the age where I view my kidneys as a finite resource. So I prefer to drink more refined whiskey and less volume. So I haven’t touched WT101 and EW BiB in a while.
  19. I like the Cultiva Zip N Ziggy.
  20. I use pencil poppers in more open water, especially over grass flats, or if I see schools of small baitfish being chased. I don’t walk it, but use a more downward pop to make the lure’s nose jump up erratically. When you twitch down you pull the lure under water a little but it’s buoyancy will make it pop upward, make sure you give it slack when it goes up to give it the upward popping motion.
  21. Yep, misread. But my toad setup is a Daiwa Elite AGS 7’4, Curado DC XG, 50lb Suffix 832 camo. On the Potomac, long casts are needed because of how clear the water gets in the hydrilla and spatterdock. So that’s why I have the 7’4, and it’s really light so I can throw it all day with no issues.
  22. ALX Toadface, Bantam MGL, 50lb Suffix 832 camo. I really like the ALX, it has a shorter handle which makes it easier for me to work a frog, and a MH tip on a Heavy backbone rod.
  23. Yep, the Coolbaits hook keeper does not play well with a Keitech Fat Impact, but it does just fine with the Easy Shiner. Also a 4" Zoom Fat Albert grub is killer on it.
  24. Oh yeah I jolt my kids on my boat cuz they love it, max power 10 and turn the TM full left or right. But when I'm with my 84 year old dad, it's on power 2-3 and it doesn't jolt the boat at all. On an Ultrex, I actually prefer to use the remote with my dad because it powers up the TM blade gradually. The foot pedal is instant power, and depending on soft or hard the foot pedal is indexed (how easy it is to push up or down), if I'm on a higher speed a soft pedal will jolt the boat a lot more often and I prefer using the remote.
  25. MK's support for TM's is really good, both via phone and email. I called HB once, and I got to an agent right away, but I think their website FAQ's and diagrams are pretty good and usually find all the info I need on there.
