  1. Yup have one (CU201B38), that is what is was built for (deep cranking). It just sits looking good now (even have the 5.1:1 gear set for it), don't throw cranks anymore.... Tight Lines!!!!

  3. Take that bad boy out to your favorite hot spot, find a good clear spot on that bank, lay that thing down and set it afire. This will please the BASS gods. Then go right out and get that Shimano® you know you should have gotten the first time. Come back to that spot, catch the first bass of the day on that reel right there........ Good Luck & Tight Lines All!!

I hear that, good to have those kind of backups.... I'm waiting on a couple of UL blanks (6' and 7') right know, been turning my TN grips for the 7' blank while waiting. Coming in from Karen @ binghams... Tight Wraps!!!

I can only say one thing............. Standardize, Standardize, Standardize.. Oops thats 3.....
  6. BigRickRolled, This usually caused by the angler engaging the spool while the lure is still in flight (and can happen on any reel). That is the pinion gear not re-leasing (going into free spool) all the way, and, the drive engagement pin is not clearing the pinion base. This should be remedied as quickly as possible, it will just get worse (slots in pinion get rounded off) to the point that your spool will rotate on hook set clicking very loud... basser89, Cause we don't use any Quantum lube in the reel... Good Luck & Tight Lines All!!!
  7. Thanks basser89, The Ardent Reel Butter is a good choice, and my lubes are located here.... http://www.***/shopping/shop/store/reel-repair-supplies01.html Tight Lines All!!!

  12. Like stated above, the main and pinion drive gears are Brass. The Idler gears are a nylon composite (not plastic) and used for the fail safe on the levelwind/retrieve worm gear system. If the reel tries to hang while cranking, and, the angler cranks through the bind that nylon gear blows out to save the main and pinion gears. It is on all BC reels LP and Round... Tight Lines!!!

flechero, Hey bud..... Lesson learned, stick with the proven Fuji®... The only thing American Tackle that I allowed on my bench is my power wrapper... Tight Wraps!
  14. Never heard of them until today, definitely JDM (Japan support only).. Here is what a search resulted in .. http://www2.jackall.co.jp/bass/ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  15. 1 rod in 30 years.. Broke on hookest because of a nick were a spinnerbait had hit the blank at the second guide from the tip... Tight Lines!!!
  16. With thousands of builders in this country, that is a hard question to answer. It would all be owner preference of course. While I appreciate the mentions, I know of 3 builders/members here that are better than I am. I only do my own rods now, and use that side of the shop for walkin rod repairs only. Tight Lines All!!!
  17. If it were my reel I would have broke it down and cleaned and re-lubed that night.... But if the water was clear freshwater and not real silty (dirty/sandy), then drying the reel should be enough. You will however need to re-lube your crank paddles, and if you have ever I would re-lube the pinion gear bearing. Check your drag pads also and make sure you don't have water in them.... If after time you start to get some grinding, then better to be safe than sorry and have the reel serviced.... 8-) Just my .02¢ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!
  18. Most of the $90 prices your seeing for the old greenies is due to the conditions they are in when listed for sale. Getting the sticker price for a truly unused reel with the papers in the original box un-damaged, would garner those prices in any good tackle shop. Yup true Americana. I am an old man in business (for a long time now), and yup I might be stuck in time. But when I price a product in my shop it is because that is what it's worth and what I'll take, it's not a open air/flea market and no I wouldn't haggle prices....He probably knows better than you what he has there......
  19. Jeff H,cart7t is right. Centrificale brakes have been around longer, they were on the early Lews BB1 series (circa 70's) of reels that Shimano® tooled. They were all you could get on the Abu Garcia Round reels, and are still being used. Some older Daiwa's like the SM2A LP BC reels (circa early 80's) used Centrificale brakes. Shimano' popular 10SG's, and 10XSG's (circa 85)... Not sure on what company actually introduced the mags first, but the sales pitches were "less backlashing", "no more birdsnest".... Tight Lines!!!
  20. Without a photo..... Thinking it must be the one that Quantum® was the licensee to build after Shimano® and the BB1's.. Thinking the GR is around 4:1.1 (easy enough to count), no continuous Anti-Reverse, small framed reel for finesse, some guys used them for cranking.. That's all I remember... Tight Lines!!!
  21. NO... Why because the reels don't catch the fish.. Good educated/savvy anglers do!!! 8-) Tight Lines!!!!
  22. All I use are 6'6" to 7' SC2 and SC3 MHF blanks for my personal spinnerbait/buzzbait rods, mounted with 5.1:1 and 6.2:1 GR reels...Tight Lines!!!!

  25. Curtis Edward "Curt" Gowdy (July 31, 1919 February 20, 2006) was an American sportscaster, well-known as the longtime "voice" of the Boston Red Sox.. I would say if your into the sox then it might have some value. From a fishing standpoint IMO No...
