Got out g. Afew after work today. Fished 4-7 boated 8 bass, 1 each on a spinnerbait and buzzbait and 6 on a choppo 120 with 1 of those weighing 3-9.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Slow day for me size wise, tried a couple new rigs that I have never threw before. The drop shot, nose hooked fluke, 3” senko  wacky rigged. Drop shot caught the most number wise around 6 small bass and 5 small pike. The nose hooked fluke caught a small bass. The wacky 3” senko caught the biggest small bass lol. I caught one pike and saw my hook in it’s mouth and then I seen another hook in the side of its face two holes in it’s face looks like the jig head had been there for a while. I cut the hook extracted that and the jig head and sent it on its way. I also caught a tiny little bass but it was definitely a chunky one, I took my hook out and then I spotted a small bluegill in it’s mouth maybe 4 inches crazy fish. I have no clue why I was throwing a drop shot in a chocolate milk pond with less than 12 inches of visibility but I did and it worked.

Heckuva day today. My buddy was wanting to get a gar on his fly rod. They usually don’t get right up on surface until the sun is hot so we tried out in the main channel for bass/striper for a bit. We could see skipjack jumping all around but couldn’t catch them. I had 5 live shiners that I had caught off my dock. I tossed one near some deep rip rap and hooked something big on my light spinning combo. I thought for sure it was a giant drum of catfish as hard as it was pulling. Then I saw a big ole spotted bass bulldogging under the boat. Got him in (with lots of backreel) and it was a fat 19” fish. Upon further photo review, I think maybe it was a meanmouth. What do y’all think?

So then we go hit the gar spot around 9:30 or 10 am and they are already surfacing everywhere. I caught one small one and we broke for lunch

then a few minutes later he is telling me a story and sets the hook, I can see the fly rod surging, another gar a little smaller but it’s fighting like crazy

I’m actually jealous that you caught a gar on a regular lure.  I’d like to have one mounted.  The ones in Michigan are pretty

Fished on Saginaw today in the Shiawassee and titabawassee rivers.  Nothing too impressive.  first fish came on a 1.5 kvd sexy shad square bill.  2nd fish came on black and blue flake swim jig That I pour /make.  Got zip on a black on blue bps curly tail worm which, I killed them on last year.  Next decided to try a strike king black blue blue laminate tube.  Lost a big fish around green point because, I thought it was a snag and didn’t set the hook.  3rd fish came on the tube.  5th fish you arnt fishing the Saginaw area unless you catch a sheap head.

set a new speed record of 36.1 mph with my 1985 sea nymph and the tower of power merc 90 hp

Nice fish! Yeah the gar will hit literally every lure, it’s just hard to hook them. I usually throw and old jerkbait that’s swelled and cracked at them

@TnRiver46  I never seen or even thought that anyone would try to catch gar on a fly rod. I bet thats one heck of a fight! By the video it looks like you just let them go until they tire out enough to wrangle them on in.

Fished this morning from 12am to 7am and got a decent one on the Zoom Ol Mag Monster in 88 degree water. 1 hit 1 fish

They always save plenty of energy for when you bring them into the boat.

Thanks for posting it, haven't had my school computer, so haven't been very active.  I guess that is the one thing I can look forward to when school is back in session, bass resource 24/7!

Post frontal today with NW winds 10-15 gusting over 20, mostly sunny skies and a rel. humidity in the low 30s, so I was hoping for just one good bite - but I got two :thumbsup_blue: out of 18 total; everything on jig.

Here's a tip FWIW. I'm guessing your weeds are down like mine from HOA spray schedule. I've started throwing of all things my mini blade bait and have absolutely mopped up, including some good ones. Enjoy the fro-pas for now cause the heat's coming back.

Thx - a couple here have been treated heavily. This one has a lot of deep Chara on bottom I kept finding with my jig, but might be able to work the blade over and through it easily enough. I’ll have to pull it out and see what happens. Been a few months since I last tossed it.

On this body of water , I probably average 40 fish a day . It helps to know where the brush is at .I've been fishing it since the 70's so know it as well as anybody . Plus I fished it for ten hours today . Thats only 5 fish an hour .

Pretty big mouth and a bit stubby, I'd say it's a Meanmouth.

Blazing hot temps over the weekend finally put an end to this past week's cold front, and last night's conditions were perfect. Dark, prefront, some wind, bats flying, swarms of bugs, and the fish were biting. I got a few smalls, my buddy got a 4lb and a 2lb, then I landed a 5.1lber on a Project Z Weedless chatter rigged with a trailer I found on a path that someone tossed there. A dab of Mend-it and it was good to go. They liked it, so thank you whoever you are?.

Right after I caught my chunk some guy who lives nearby decided to practice for 4th of July at 11:45 pm on a Sunday night and lit off some enormous pro grade mortars that popped right over the lake. Giant explosions that shook the ground, and a light show. We knew better, but tried for a bit afterwards anyway, but the bite was gone. Great while it lasted, and it was nice to feel some weight again.

Wading is fun, my favorite way to fish. It looks like you are wearing frogg togg hip waders? Dont be like me or maybe you have where i put on my hip waders instead of my chest waders and then forget what i am wearing and step in to deep and fill them up.

Did that when I first got 'em. Low 40 degree water and freezing out. Had a long walk sloshing back to the truck through the woods, a creek, then some more woods. By then water wicked up to my works. Awesome. Needed to strip my jeans, socks, and underoos while parked on a side street. It was night, so I didn't frighten anyone or get jailed. Ended up driving home shivering, shriveled, and bottomless. Thankfully I caught them good beforehand. Learned my lesson.

A lot of smaller lakes in Kansas and Missouri are high density but low numbers of big fish. I fish a lot of the lakes where Ned tries for his 101 bass in 4 hours and occasionally reaches that goal. Of those 101 bass though, less than 10 will go 15" and rarely does one reach past 20".

Only got out Sunday this past weekend, and got rained and stormed on in the morning like they didn't say anything about. Fishing was good right away once the lightning stopped. My blue bladed jig and a Trashmaster Jig did most of the damage. Biggest fish was a couple drops of water shy of 5lbs.

Solid finish 24th out of 120 on the co-angler side this past week at the BASS Nation Regional Championship up on the St. Lawrence River. Tough derby for non boaters as it was a bed fishing extravaganza, but I ended up having a great first two days. Was sitting in 12th place going into day 3 but ended up slipping down to 24th as I was at the helm of my boater and scrounged up what I could. 4 fish limit for boaters and 3 fish limit for co-anglers.

Fan casting a spybait, keitech, hair jig, and jerkbait were the keys to getting bites for me.

Day 1: 3 fish limit - 11lb. 3oz.

Day 2: 3 fish limit - 12lb. 1oz.

Day 3: 3 fish limit - 8lb. 1 oz.

Lack of wind moved me away from reaction baits that had been so successful the past few days. Wacky rig kept me busy enough, though with these being the best of the bunch.

The last week of May and the first week of June was killer. Then the bite went to hell until today. Landed 6 on a Fluke in about an hour. I'd sworn off buying the Zoom Fluke because of trash packaging and half always being warped, twisted up garbage, but happened upon a few packs in excellent condition. Best bass of the day is pictured. I only caught them under overhanging trees and bushes, and always on the initial jerk.
