  I started off my fishing morning with a cup of coffee and a quick check on BR for motivational reports and latest techniques the fish are chewing on. In doing so I gotta say props to @thediscochef for landing two 7 lbers (cause it ain’t easy) and everyone’s posting a bunch pictures of of solid, thick bass. So armed with motivation from the previous day’s success I was greeted with overcast skies with a high of 75, down from yesterday’s 86 (it should be in the mid 90’s), a steady breeze out of northwest to keep things interesting and an incoming tide I headed out.

  And it was nice to be rewarded when the tide turned with a 5.2lb on a GYCB stickbait that sent her bulldogging through the grass before I was able to lip her into the boat and make my day.

  Continued good fishing all!

    Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Awesome fish, and boat.......what kind of rig is that?

Had that scale for 20+ years, but finally had to upgrade to the one with clips.  It was a great scale.

100 bass in a day?   I'm thrilled to catch 100 in a month.   My automatic inflatable life jacket inflated last night.  I wondered if the rain would ever get to it.  It was soaking wet, along with a bunch of other stuff.  I brought it in yesterday.  I had it sitting in a bathtub along with some clothes, shoes ect.  This morning it was inflated.   I went by Cabela's after fishing today and got 2 recharge kits.  I didn't succumb to the bait monkey.  I went in, got the recharge kits and left.

I caught 12 bass today.  Two 3+ pound Largemouth and 10 spots ranging from dink to 16 inches.  I also caught one 9 inch Crappie.  Going back to my earlier post about the direction of Spots eyes.  9 of the spots were looking down.  I caught the one that was looking up on a Devils Horse.   The rest were on various bottom hugging lures.   Both Largemouth were on a t-rigged 6 inch Zoom trick worm.

"Bulldogging" is the word that made my heart race. They're magnificent when they bulldog through the grass, aren't they? I marvel how a five-pound animal can pull so hard.

Your smile, of course, conveys all ^this^!

Speaking of marveling, I marvel at the consistency of Woody B and Team9Nine. I've expressed this in the past and I'm saying it again, dang it. If any of you don't like it, well, come through the Intertubes and it'll be on like Kong.

Of course, instead of fighting, we could simply go bassin'. ?

Which is what I did again today ? Heavy cloud cover, almost no wind, and back to the same spot from yesterday, which is usually a big “no-no”, unless it’s a numbers lake - this one isn’t - lol. As expected, just a handful of bites, albeit from some chunky fish, on jig and Chatter. As soon as the clouds mysteriously disappeared, so did the almost non-existent bite.

The streak continues, got out before the weather turned for the worst. Rain rain go away!

This counts for Friday 6/23. This little bass destroyed my spinner bait.....ah well, that spinner bait got me 5-6 bass and 2 x 6-7lbs snake heads. I could not ask more of it. RIP.

Caught on another new setup too.

PS- I saw the ruler on the side of the rod after I released the fish haha.

Today’s report, Part 2: Around 8 o’clock this evening we had good cloud cover back, still no wind, but the start of cooling temps. Got an idea in my head, so grabbed a rod and set it up for fishing a topwater, a Splash-It in particular. Been a while since I’ve thrown a popper, but was reminded how much fun they are tonight. The trip ended when I lost the bait to a snapping turtle about one hour in, but not before landing 10 chunky bass, topped by a 4.5 pounder. Luckily, I’ve got a couple more duplicate baits hanging new in their package on the garage wall, so I’ll be pulling them out soon to check out that bite at a couple more spots with any luck, before the storms and rain arrive later this weekend.

Well, since I had to fight this out of the pipe (prob going to replace my line). I am counting it as today, 6/24 fish. Again, total ate my speed worm.

Have to admit, it was nice and quiet for about an hour before the down pour....good thing I drove tonight.

Was at the church pond at daybreak. Hooked this little guy on a super fluke. The hookset pulled him out of the water. I knew it was small.

Suddenly , the rod loaded up and to my suprise, I was fighting something much bigger. I loosened the drag slightly as it went by. It pulled out several feet of drag and came off… still had jr. hooked though…Whatever it was , It fought like a bass but it never jumped.

It was BIG, real BIG…

@N Florida Mike: Exciting!

@Team9nine: I used a popper the other morning too. In my youth, poppers were my main lure. It was fun to use one again and great to cast a lure than alights on the water rather than plops on it like a Whopper Plopper.

@Dominat0r: Keep up that streak!

@Cbump: I like your pre-tournament photos and I admire your dedication. Sleeping on your boat is hardcore.

@GreenPig, I can barely look at your bass when you wear your bloody mummy gloves!

Is that the church pond again, @N Florida Mike? If so, that's some fish factory.

Y’all know that thread on here with the guy asking what a good day on the water is for us? Well today was not It.
Two fish for 2.6lbs. Not even worth a picture.

No, it was at the home lake this time, which is a much better fishery than the church lake.

The church lake ( I also call it graveyard lake because our graveyard backs up to it) is ok, but I never catch more than 2-3 fish per outing there, mostly 12-15 inchers. This year has been the best for size in the 25+ years I’ve fished it, got 2 fish over 20 inches out of it. Whatever that was today might have been a DD.

Wife said if they went in the washer one more time, they weren't coming back :lol: Only option was to cut them off and use them as shorts, which is actually working out well now that its summer and our highs are running in the mid 80s to low 90s.

You are a great, honest man to tell everyone that it didn’t go well. Keep pushing brother, hard times make the good times sweeter.
