Not a latest catch, but my phone brought this up. Two years ago today, I caught this fat 38" on a TRD bug. 6# XT. Twas a memorable battle.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

I love posting and seeing pics of big bass, but it's raining today so I didn't go out. I did see this post though.

The day before yesterday, caught in the surf just south of Cape Hatteras North Carolina in the village of Frisco...

11 feet long. A grown one can go 20. They very rarely bite people if left alone.

Itty bitty spotties!

First ever trip to Lake Palestine, had an extra hour after the shoot today so naturally I found somewhere to go bassin.

I think jerkbaits are good.

I tried fishing on the west shore into ripping 18 mph east wind and rain for an hour, but the only thing I caught was a log, and not a single bite. Hopefully I'll get my Gantarel jr back later. Doh. Swung around to the east side where a wind break left me with much calmer water and some active fish. Over the next hour an IMA crank and Black/Blue Jackhammer got some bites. Nothing hefty, but it beat watching re-runs.

P.S. Last night when I snagged the Gantarel I knew I'd break off if I yanked it. It hooked something heavy and unmovable on bottom about 40' out, so I cut the line near shore and tied it off to a low hanging branch at the water's surface. I would've sunk the line with some lead, but had none. I boogied back up there this afternoon in chest waders and a 12' contraption made of conduit and a hook. Thankfully nobody had snagged the line. Had to wade out there nips deep and make a full stretch with the tool and got it back. Victory! It's a relatively inexpensive lure, but getting it back was more satisfying than my morning constitutional. Ahhhh. It's the little things...

I had a real lucky day today all around - found out I WAY overestimated how much I needed to save for my self employment taxes. My investments jumped. A piece of audio gear I ordered in November finally showed up.

So naturally I went and got a new baitcaster combo, and another vision 110. And given the rest of the day, I had to get by some water. I spent about two hours casting in various areas, with 10 minutes left I landed this nice spotted bass. Weighed in at 2.4lbs, which is technically a PB, though only by a quarter pound. It's definitely a larger fish than the last one. Now I'm going to go play bass in my band. It's a beautiful day

That’s one fat spot! Congratulations @thediscochef on your new PB!

I was going to fish Lake Raven this morning, but the report was it was extremely muddy due to heavy rain earlier this week. So I stayed local. Haven’t had much success lately. Been a dinkfest and not in big numbers. But I had off, so I was going fishing!

Got in the water just after sun-up. Started with a Megabass Vision jerkbait, followed by a jig-n-craw. Nothing. Went to a Ned rig and got a strike but missed it.  Went to a #956 Senko WR and caught two dinks. Not on the initial drop, and not lifting and letting it drop again, but on a decently fast retrieve. Tossed it again and when it broke the surface it got hit, but missed it. Tossed it out again and this time it got hooked.

spacer.pngNot a giant. But I haven’t caught a 2 lb. bass in a while, so I was happy. Thought it was bigger as it put up a good fight.

Caught another dink on a Zoom Trick Texas rig, but figured they were chasing. Took the jerkbait off and tied a squarebill onto the Dobyns. Caught a dink, but it was fun!

spacer.pngAll-in-all, a good morning. Beats working!

Today was frustrating with a capital F. Hit up the spot from Monday to see if that high water situation still had the bass pushed up shallow. They were still chewing pretty good, but it was just one of those days for me. I lost probably twice as many as I caught, and lost all four bigger fish I hooked into. Ended the day with only ten bass and five tilapia.

Was throwing the Stunna in gold that I just picked up. Action is great but I'm not a fan of the Fusion19 trebles on it, the ones I got are not very sharp out of the box (I feel like a $15 lure should be ready to go right out of the box but maybe that's just me). Had three big fish spit it, one threw it on the jump and she was a biiig girl, she was easily 8lbs. That one was pretty demoralizing....Out of all the bites I got with it, I only landed two small bass on it. Both about the same size.

Most of the fish were on a Booyah One Knocker, mostly dinks but a couple of "slightly" better 1.5lbers or so.

Had one eat it pretty good head first. Thankfully no hook in the gills, just one hook right in the top of the mouth.

And what would a trip be for me without catching more of these buggers..... I seriously cannot escape them.

Man that's rough about the big girls but I would do...things...for only a 10 bass day right now. You'll get em next time I'd bet

These were my two dinky catches...took something like three hours to get the two fish. That little guy is just further evidence that bass will try just about anything once...inspiration for all of us. That fish tried to eat a 4" jerkbait lol. Water is still in the 50-54 region and there was a lot of pressure+boat traffic at the lake today, so there's bites to be had but they're pretty few and far between.

The crackle and hickory jerk shads continue to produce. Ready for warmer night temps to show up.

Cold and rainy, but the fish didn't care.  Yesterday, got a school fired up with the jerkbait.  Probably 25ish fish in a few hours, with a stretch of 20 minutes of fish on every cast.  So much fun that I didn't care that I couldn't feel my fingers and forgot to eat.  Got another limit plus this morning, gantarel jr, R2S TB crank, and the killer nishine darter did the damage.

Things may be picking up. Only had a few hours to fish this morning. Based on yesterday, I started with a 6th Sense squarebill. Once again, nothing of size, but the bass did like it. I caught three in about 20 minutes.

spacer.png

Tried a chartreuse spinnerbait after that with no luck, as well as a Megabass popper. Tried a Whopper Plopper and had a strike about 3’ from the boat but that was it.

Started tossing a #196 Senko WR and caught a dink. Tossed it out again and caught another dink. Tossed it out again and on the retrieve it got hit hard.

spacer.png

A little bigger than yesterday’s bass. About 2-1/4 lbs. Caught a few more smaller bass for a total of 10. Good morning!

Congrats man...things are turning around for ya! I got out last weekend for about 6 hours and managed 2 dinks. But after 3 months of ice lock down I was just happy to hit open water..the fish were a bonus.

The local pond here is finally ice free. I went fishing on a 36 degree Friday morning with the hopes of catching a Perch or Pickerel.

Using my Revo X 20 spinning reel spooled with 6# Vanish on a Medium Light Fenwick HMX rod, I tied on a Eurotackle Z-Spender 1/8 oz Jerkbait in Perch color.

To my shock while casting around some structure I caught my first fish of 2022 and it was a Largemouth Bass.

I had a lot of luck the rest of the day with a Blue Fox Vibrax in-line spinner tied on my Revo SX spooled with 10# mono on a St Croix Bass X Medium casting rod. 4 Pickerel on that lure

Looks like a solid day! Great Job, some pretty pretty bass!!

Ready for things up here to turn around...first day over 80 this year up here, the lake was "standing room only". The spool bearings on my new tatula SV TW started making the most God awful noise in casts so I went and exchanged it for a lews inshore custom SLP which I like much better already. It's quieter and feels tougher.

I still spent 6 hours at the lake, you never know what can (or can't, in this case) happen. A leader knot failure claims another jerkbait. I'd just cut my vision 110 off that line for a $6 academy lure, maybe three casts before. So I'm going to count today's luck as not losing a brand new vision 110, and not having equipment issues at a worse time. I lament my landlock. The end.

In all honesty, I just simply have fun. Catching bass is a bonus. It was such a beautiful morning to be out on the water. But I’ll admit feeling that one bass whack that bait hard was a big plus!

Sounds like Dickens in A Tale Of Two Cities. “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”. Thankfully you didn’t lose that Megabass!

I'm feeling OK about the day honestly, it was beautiful out and I'm starting to see more signs of life in the river below the dam. I could have dealt with less people but thats a fact of life around here. Just a matter of time before we're off to the fish races like we were last year. I think I'm going to go fish some different spots tomorrow, change things up a bit. My days will come, I just have to be patient.

I love it when something just freight trains your bait like that, what a thrill! Especially when it does that and immediately starts taking drag...nothing quite like it. Congrats on a fun day!! Looks like we'll hit 90ish tomorrow, should be a good day.

I started out fishing from the bank on a 35 acre lake.  I moved to a pond that is about 4-1/2 acres after the 15+ mph sustained winds made the larger lake too hard to fish.  I got my only bass running a shallow running crankbait down along the dam of the pond.

Mother nature threw out some crazy weather this weekend. Saturday there was sun, rain, and thunder all together for a little while, and it just started snowing here a second ago. I bank fished Friday night and went out in the kayak Saturday and this morning. Four this weekend is all. That's okay. I'm having a blast.

Nothing Friday night. Saturday I had a mind that there would still be some fish shallow that I could catch. The two I ended up catching were both on a red eyed shad out deep. And although I played around with a lipless quite a bit for the rest of the time I fished, I just couldn't get a pattern going on it. Both of those bites were early too.

955556238_fish2.jpg.38b80599137b49a909df60584b4bb073.jpg

So with that in mind, I went out very early again this morning, even though it was bitter cold and quite windy out. Probably the coldest weather I've fished in. Morning was a good idea. It got crazy windy later in the day today (right now weather says 18mph) but I caught a bass and a pickerel early when the wind was a little tamer and I just figured I'd call it good around 10:30. And both of those fish today were off the same point as Saturday with a lipless again. So that point and yo-yoing lipless were my skunk busters this weekend :).
