Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Had my first productive day in 2023 and with the new boat.

Air temps 63*

Water temp 51*

Heavy cloud cover.

Caught 5 in 1 hour and lost 3 using a Keitech easy shiner in white on 1/16 Zman head, gin clear water.

I mainly went to break in the Merc but fish got in the way. Lol

Nice fish!

Just a lil 4 lb 5 oz bass on the ole Siebert swim jig to start March out right.

Great way to get the month rolling.  So wild that she hasn't even started to feed AND hasn't spawned yet.  Just goes to show that not all fish on the pond are on the same schedule.

Now I'm confused. Is Alex the G.O.A.T, or is A-Jay the G.O.A.T? There can be only one.

Don't worry Tim. We've got a half dozen still to drop babies. There will be another T-Billy soon!

It ain't nowhere near pretty enough if it shuts down fishing.

Caught 8 Spots and two LM earlier today in my kind of weather, wind & rain. Waters 64 degrees.

We’re both getting hammered by the wind/rain combo. ‘Supposed to be’ sunshine today although I’ve not seen much of it yet.

We got tornados, large hail, and t storms about roll through and we got a wind advisory.....that said it is sunny at the moment...Alabama weather summed up perfectly?

Look at that pressure, that's pretty wild, can't remember the last time I've seen it this low

? Well... I'm hard headed, and I'll eat most anything so... Seems appropriate I reckon.

Down in Martindale, TX for the weekend, right on the San Marcos River. Caught my first Guadalupe Bass today, a super neat experience. Was snaking a c-rigged 8" power lizard over a log and felt it latch on. Little guy inhaled it. Some tough fishing today but a bucket list item crossed off in cool fashion.

Awesome, now snap a pic of an Ocelot and you'd have two of the most rare critters in America that live in the same general area.

Got out today with high hopes for a bigger fish. It had rained this morning, and the lake was slick calm, partly cloudy conditions. Full moon this Tuesday…
First cast I got the pictured fish! Then caught 3 dinks the rest of the afternoon… all on the june bug ol monster …Lost several good fish to laydowns, but that’s par for the course…

I wish I could blame the weather, but it's nothing short of spectacular.   Breezy, high 70s, super sunny, almost full moon high in the sky.....but atlas 8 fish + a big Crappie.

The amount of human activity level is very significant over these last few weeks, the days and even months of having a lake to myself are over, the summer can't come fast enough when my advantage will kick back in when I have the lake to myself every single night.

Quality fish on a new Jackall Rerange, along with 4 others.    Caught two sub 2lb fish on a 7.5" Shimano 190SF big swimbait lol.   Lastly caught a chunky 2lb fish on the flashback mini.

I'm seeing some bigger fish on sonar but couldn't crack them.  I hate the Spring  ?

Got out for just a couple hours tonight but I took the new kayak and my oldest son to test it out. He's been excited to try it out so we had to take advantage of an almost 60 degree and calm afternoon. I only took 2 rods and the baits on them and he had 1 rod with 1 bait. I just got done fishing a little cut when he snuck in behind me and plucked the first fish of the trip out on his Ned rig. Thankfully I caught 2 right as the end to save face because I was taking some serious ribbing.

My dad explained to me that the first time your son bests you is a) a proud papa moment b) a terrible shot to your ego.

Fantastic Dad!   Being a hammer at that age might afford him the opportunity to pay for college, or even be a pro one day.

Impressive young man.....hope to see him hold a Classic trophy up in 15-20 years ?

17" isn't bad for me, right?*

I got out Saturday for a little while.  There were 3 (that I know of) tournaments going on as well as a catfish tournament.  I decided to go way up the lake and stay out of their way.  I caught 4, all were 16 to 17 inches long.   I looked at some waypoint distances while I was up there.  I was fishing closer to the landing I use on Lake Norman than the 1 I used to launch my boat.   I've wondered about the elevation change on a big lake.  The lake level has been consistent.  According to my phones GPS the elevation at the top of the lake (at the bottom of the Mountain Island dam) the elevation is 590 feet.  Thursday, all the way at the other end of the lake, at the Lake Wylie dam the elevation was 570 feet.   This is 22 miles if measured in a straight line.  There has to be fall for the water to flow.  I guess 1 foot per mile is believable.

Yep, just water rolling downhill. That’s the way our lakes are too, different elevation at the upper and lower end.

As a dad who fishes with my son often, I can attest to this but I like to play the long game.

Let him win a few and then show him how it's REALLY done now and again.  (At least that's what I tell myself when he smokes me on any given day!  ?)

Like he did yesterday with the one bass we got all day!Compress_20230305_102313_3081.thumb.jpg.56785a3d4f24a97d8803529435864ef2.jpg

Thats cool.

First bass of the year for me, not huge but not a dink either. Good way to break the new rod in. Bait was a z man mini max 3/8 in bluegill with a mini zako 956 trailer. New rod is a 6’10 medium heavy expride b, used my old curado 200k in 6.2 ratio. Cast it effortlessly with no issues, didn’t bring the scale but probably 2.5lbs is my guess lol. The weather was to nice to stay inside.

Awesome, and I really love that MiniMax combo.   Such an excellent bait.   I have the bluegill MiniMax but not those mini Zakos, perfect little combo.    Bet you catch a bunch more on it.

Thank you. Yeah it’s my normal color combo when I go to imitate gills, I really wish that they would make a sungill version also. I think that it will work well with the red mini max also. I like it so far, probably catch my fair share on it this year is my guess also.

It was cool, wish I had caught more but still a neat experience. I'm ready to start catching bass for real now lol
