Popped down to the river at negative tide mostly just to see what I could see

Looks like a popper, unfortunately I didn't have anything with strong enough line to snag and recover.

Found a nasty old trap in the rocks, still had stumps of hooks until I picked it up and they disintegrated.

a solid fish for this spot, dogged me on BFS trying to get into the grass. I had to thumb the spool and put faith in 6lb tatsu to pull him out.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Wind was HOWLING this weekend, 20-30 with gust over 40. I decided to play it relatively safe and go to a smaller, local lake that would be situated to be somewhat protected from it. I really wanted to try and get some Livescope fish but the wind was making it very difficult. I caught a bunch flipping the grass and on the grass edges, including one really healthy one.

I hooked a big fish off a concrete structure on the dam, but I don’t think it was a bass. Whatever it was, it went away from me pretty fast and broke me off. I did manage to scope my first fish, a big bluegill. Then I found a few trees I didn’t know about previously and caught a fish out of them on a Texas rig.

As my day was winding down, I found some fish on a point and started getting bit on a Mooch Minnow. Then it was every cast for several minutes. I lost a really nice one on the jump, but it was constant action and I was watching the fish swimming and chasing my bait. One was another good fish.

IMG-4525.jpgIMG-4526.jpgThey slowed down a little so I picked up a Ned and started picking off several more. One cast I got back to under the kayak when a big fish was coming for my bait, then my rod slowly started bending. When I set the hook, it dove and drug me into a tree. My 8lb Pounce leader was squeaking and screaming but I felt it pop free from the tree. I played it carefully with the scraped line but got it into the net.

I ended up with over 50 fish on the day, over half of them off that one point with the Livescope. Felt really good to learn something new and do something successfully that is completely out of my comfort zone.

Caught about 50 this morning with a buddy. For once, I didn't count because we were chatting all morning, but right before we left the pond, we each caught one at the same time, so my buddy lifted those for one photo:

Dang, that is a super cool hat and award.

I don't know why but I just LOVE that hat!

:)

Haven’t been out fishing much but managed to catch a few over the course of a few days.

I haven't looked at all 861 pages yet.

But after a couple dozen, I've learned that the key is to either find a good church pond or move to TX.

@Jonny15678: Nice bass, but it looks like you caught them over the course of a few months, not a "few days."

I finally got out yesterday late morning for about 2-1/2 hours. Went to a local pond that gets hit pretty hard and yesterday was no exception but out of the 5 of us fishing 3 peeled off to fish a much smaller pond behind the main pond. I caught 2 on a new to me BPS spinner bait with a single larger blade. I then hit my favorite pond but it was a bit of a disappointment with only 1 also on the same spinner bait.IMG_4741.jpeg.96d6fe307ca087b9ebda636c7b7aa96a.jpegIMG_4742.jpeg.2e105048d6d86a6613cf6623f2b91b15.jpegIMG_4743.jpeg.b5d2532bdaaf99bd9e0f32806efae009.jpeg

Eric, no doubt those are framers hands!  Smashed, mashed, splintered, re-splintered before previous healed, sunburned, arthritic, swollen, just enough strength to lip a Bass! I know, I've got a couple just like em'!

@Blue Raider Bob I appreciate the compliment and I’m sure your hands look like mine but the difference is yours are far more talented and I say that based on your beautiful pond and the gorgeous gazebo you built with your hands.

Our several-days-long heatwave should be ending tonight.  I've been off the water, but this morning went out to "Lake 19".   A few 2-something lb-ers around sunrise on buzzbait, flashy swimmer, and flipping a Gambler burner craw.  I snapped a pic of this one, probably the biggest -- given how the last few trips have gone and the time of year, I figured this fish would likely end up the best out of however many I'd end up catching before going home.

20250624_17.jpg.3cb98bd70f9b3eb325894c0b3dcb15d6.jpg

Turns out it was not. By the time the sun was up and over the trees at 8am, I was at 8 fish. Bites on moving baits evaporated, so I stuck with the burner craw, pitching it into any gaps in the spatterdock i could find.

An hour later, Number 9 hit. It was much bigger at 19", probably pushing 4lb, although it wriggled off the measuring board and over the side before I could get a pic.

Another hour later, Number 10....and for the second time in two months, I have a new Largemouth PB:

Congrats on the New Personal Best Bass

And she's a Beauty for sure.

Only a matter of time before that 6er hit your scale.

Nicely Done.

Well done @MIbassyaker! Your scale was not calibrated.

The same scale always says "2-point blah, blah, whatever" any time I think a fish is definitely over 3...

Had a great morning. Overcast and raining. Been raining since last night. The ponds were up about a foot. And every cast you made to high potential spots hooked up. Under a tree, flip next to a drain pipe, work close to shore, cast into a drain dumping into the pond. Caught 18 in a couple hours. As usual nothing huge. But a great morning. On a black and blue jig with a rage bug trailer. And a 75 Choppo top water.

This is for you @Bazoo with your recent posts on interest in jig heads. This is a @Siebert Outdoors sniper 5/16 in black blue with a rage bug trailer. I caught them swimming it, hopping off the bottom and dragging it on the bottom with pauses. Don’t let the head style limit you. All of them work for a lot of things man!

Boy you are braver than me.

It was 72 degrees this morning and the dew point was 72.

I need to suck it up and get out there I guess.  :)

Lol! It was worth it. Idk I guess I don’t mind the heat. And I’m going to work at 11am anyway to work outside. So going and sweating some before is just meh
