I'm not that much of a sucker! I fish a lot of clear water so I'm interested to see how they perform.  Also slightly different profile And action can be a pretty big deal around here And they definitely do their own kind of thing just like all products on the market or whatever.  Etc etc  The Amazon color is pretty nuts actually. It's like yellow with the big red stripe and a bunch of black stuff. Definitely like a dirty water reaction bait kind of color. I like it! Definitely don't have anything quite like it in my arsenal and it's the '70 size so it's a huge profile which is also neat!  But I appreciate your criticism 😂😂😂😉😉😉   1
Super User gimruis Posted October 25 Super User Share Posted October 25 I know you're smarter the average bear on this sort of thing. I know people who buy frogs because of what they look like on the outside of the packaging. "That is a wild color, I'm buying that one." Then I ask them "what side of the frog does the bass see again?" (awkward pause as the wheels start to turn)  Its pure marketing and a lot of people get sucked into it. 1

Super User NorthernBasser Posted October 25 Super User Share Posted October 25 4 hours ago, gimruis said:  Bass only see the underside. Flip em over lol  True. Unlesssss you're fishing gin clear water and it's dead calm out. Sometimes a bass with trail a frog and closely inspect it before committing to it. And if they're swimming alongside it, they can see the markings/paint scheme on the side of the frog. Not to mention some frogs sit butt-down in the water.  It is nuts how many colors the Bronzeye come in, though. Over 50! SPRO is definitely trying to catch the fishermen as well, that's for sure.

Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted October 28 Super User Share Posted October 28 New spinning setup..... Stradic 3000XG on a Levante Shakeyhead and I managed to score some D Braid in 15lb to wrap up the combo.  As always, Digitaka is amazing.   Hopefully I don't like the D Braid too much since it's no longer made.  I've read bad reviews about the stuff that replaced it.

Super User NorthernBasser Posted October 29 Super User Share Posted October 29 2 new baits to check out.  Picasso's new Titanium spinnerbait. Obviously has the titanium wire, but also a swinging head, which has it's pros and cons.  Also got the Toad Thumper Juggernaut Jig. This thing is an absolute beast of a heavy-cover jig. I won't be able to try it out until next year, but I can already tell this is going to be one impressive jig to throw around the gnarly stuff.
Super User gimruis Posted October 31 Super User Share Posted October 31 @NorthernBasser why the swing head on the spinnerbait?
Super User NorthernBasser Posted October 31 Super User Share Posted October 31 8 minutes ago, gimruis said: @NorthernBasser why the swing head on the spinnerbait?  For me the 2 main advantages is it makes it harder for the fish to throw it and they seem to always run true. The biggest con, I would think, is they aren't as weedless as traditional spinnerbaits. Especially going over laydowns. With the swinging head, it can roll over some, so it's not aligned with the wire, making it more likely to get caught up on wood, etc.

softwateronly
@Texas Flood Is that Mullet hair jig new to you? Been looking at it for awhile. The chicken jig is a big fish producer for me in the summer, just really like Northland's crappie and bluegill colors.  scott

Ive actually never used a hair jig before but I’ve wanted to for a while. Any tips?
softwateronly
@Texas Flood For me; it's killer post spawn through summer. I'll set up in 20-25' fow and throw it at the weedline/break trying to tightline surf it down through the tops of the hydrilla. When it it hits bottom, 2-3 fast reel turns, rod pointed down still, tightline again till bottom. Repeat. It's also good on deep flats for me when bluegill are suspended. Same bomb cast, tightline, reel rips.  @WRB put me on to a cps spring and a 2" piece of a trick worm as a weedguard. When the bite is on; it's a big fish bait. No dinks mess around with it, and the bite is an obvious thunk. Can't miss it. I like a longer rod, loomis 904mbr is my fave. There's some Seth Feider vids out there pimping the chicken jig. Good luck!  scott

Super User NorthernBasser Posted November 7 Super User Share Posted November 7 Took advantage of pretty steep discount Kistler was having on a few of their Chromium rods/reels. The rods and reels 'retail' for $300. I put that in parenthesis because as we all know, they're always having sales. Are these on the same level as other $300 rods/reels? Eh, I wouldn't say that. But getting the reel for $89 and rod $99, that's a steal IMO. The cork on these rods feel so nice to the touch, I almost didn't wanna seal it. Lol.
Aaron_H
New Academy had their grand opening sale in Fort Myers, so I snagged some pretty good deals while I was there. Baits and lures were all buy one get one 50% off, so I snagged some Zakos since I was running low, picked up some 6th Sense Provoke jerkbaits to try out, some MiniMax chatterbaits, and some Yamatanukis.
