Usually is on most retailer's "excluded" list.  

 

Doesn't 100% mean you can't get a discount - I know another site that has "excluded" brands that you still get a discount on.  

 

Also - some websites can be tricked - add a cheap non-excluded item to your cart, and see if it applies the discount across the whole cart.  There's a shooting supply website that once you have the discount applied to the cart, you can then take the non-excluded item out of your cart and still get the discount with just the excluded item.  Sometimes you have to just game the system.  

 

I miss the days of buying giftcards at 20% off, then using that giftcard to buy more giftcards at the next 20% sale, etc....

Sadly I think MB is the one brand that is truly "excluded".   I know I have gotten the discount on Daiwa reels from TW the last two sales.

So happy you were able to take advantage of this. It was a fantastic price for this reel. The lowest I had seen it for was $56 a few weeks ago.

 

I had to fight the urge to buy one myself. I kept telling myself I have a Lew's LFS baitcaster that hasn't gotten wet yet and I need a lot of fishing accessories before I buy another reel.

thanks for the heads up...would have missed it w/o it...didn't need the reel but have come to believe a very fast reel is needed in your arsenal...recently bought kk perigee II 7' 2 pc. rod also on sale...very happy with it and will put the elite on it...kk combo for less than 100 bucks...

Academy promo code question. I got a promo code when there was an issue with my order. I have no clue what it gives me, but wonder if anyone knows if the promo code would work with the BF sale?

Who knows. Remember earlier this year when there was a 20% off code floating around that everyone could use on anything? Firearms/ammo were supposed to be excluded, but thousands and thousands of rounds were sold with that discount applied. 

 

Also - I had a 20% off promo their customer service gave me for an error they made on a baseball bat I ordered.  It applied to anything, on sale or not.  If yours is the same - It might indeed work regardless of BF deal or not.

In my experience, even when ordering online the discount has still applied to MB.  This is a screenshot of my order last fall, with a LC lure thrown in as well.  

Hopefully I don't jinx myself because I have my eye on a couple things that are on the excluded list for next week (Shimano, MB, etc)

Huh, I swear I got shot down trying to get an MB rod on sale last year but I hope to be proven wrong!

Academy's going to have the Lews Mach1 Baitcaster combo for $79, and the H2O express Mettle MT2 reels for $39 - those are actually a decent feeling reel.  Onyx Auto-inflatable vest for $59 isn't bad either.

Fisherman's factory outlet has 25% off right now.  My brother-in-law and I just bought the last 3 right handed Abu Garcia ALX reels for $105 each.  They were already 44% off and then another 25% off.  They still have some left handed ones if that's your style.
