What cutter do you use for braided line? I'd prefer something that doesn't require putting tension on line when using. Mostly using 15-20# braid and tired of frayed ends on setups when using leaders

I use scissors from the sewing department at Wal-Mart.

Nothing special for me, nail clippers work just fine.

boomerang snip tool works for me

I heard Zebra muscles cut braid pretty good .

I bought Cuda 3" mono and braid scissors

Bass Pro sells their brand of split rings pliers which has a cutter. Never found anything better and cheap.

Boomerang for me. Works awesome

Been using Fiskars scissors for years. You can find them in the school supply area of your local store.

Boomerang worked fine for a bit but got dull quick and I have got to hold the line with a lot of tension to get it to cut. Hardly ever a clean cut. Anyone tried those Cuda's?

Boomerang Snip for me. 

The first trick with a Boomerang is to note that the blades are offset, not centered in the plastic grip. I think you can see it in the attachment. So, be certain to have the blades near the point where you want to make the clean cut. This means "inside" and not held away from you and the knot. It makes a difference how you hold the clippers in relation to the knot. 

 

The second trick is to push the line way back deep into the jaws of the little device, not mid-way or out toward the tip.

Good advice,  @Brad Reid.  One more trick that makes the Boomerangs last longer is cut flouro and mono near the tips, and only cut braid back deep in the jaws.  I find flouro dulls them faster than braid.

I have had two pairs.  They get dull just like the rest. Right now I'm using 3.00 Ozark Trail cheapies from Wal Mart.  They work just fine.

The problem with scissors is braid fibers tend to slide between the blades and dull the cutting edges. Boomarange should be dedicated to braid only and use simple line clippers for mono & FC, it last a very long time.

Westcott 5" scissors from Walmart. Never cut paper with them, I never cut anything but line with them. They are super sharp and have held an edge for years. Only a few bucks. They give a clean cut, no fraying, but I still hold a lighter to where I trimmed the line for a leader knot, which prevents any future fraying.

No kidding? I have a heck of a time cutting braid with nail clippers. I do use toenail clippers for my other lines tho.

 

This is what I use fro my braid.

 

I use either the boomerang snips or my sissors on my swiss army knife. 

Kastking braid scissors. They are super sharp. They come with a belt clip sheath and lanyard. Handle has a spot to attach a keyring bungee and carabiner.

Must be using a cheap braid if regular clippers cut it easily.

There is a KVD model of split ring plier/braid cutter out there that cut braid like butter. They have a red handle, and they look similar to the Mustad brand "braid cutters with split ring pliers" on TW that have the blue handle. I would guess those would be the same or at least work as well. I picked mine up at Walmart. They are pretty cheap, and make decent split ring pliers. I use mine for cutting all my light braid(16 lb.) to flouro leader connections for dropshot, etc. They work like a champion. I use Rapala clippers(just like finger nail clippers) for all my flouro and mono cutting.

Had awesome luck with these from Walmart. Lost them and bagged another super cheap. Never had an issue.
