The drive to a fishing spot. Does your mind wander?

Featured Replies

Bankc  and I fish the same. same weather never means the same time & places with the wandering schools of bait & bass.

Added more confusion with trees are starting to drop some yellow leaves !!!!!!!!!!

I am leaving the fish in the weed beds. They might have died in there !!

I will go out to the  sides of the man channel  that has lots of Lake Ontario water. Might be were life is more normal.

I usually too busy watching for deer, coyotes, dogs, armadillos, cows, ect to let my mind wander.

  • I live about 1.5 miles from the water so any anxiety is short lived

My drive to the lake takes about as long as it would take to go through the drive through at Whattaburger, and much less time than it takes at In-N-Out. I think that means I'm hungry and need to make myself some lunch.

My mind wanders 24/7. I have the attention span of a gnat. Wait... What were we talking about?

What do I think about when I driving to my fishing destination?  Same thing I'm thinking about when my wife ask what I'm thinking about.

Around here daydreaming on the road is not good for your health.

We've got some dumb animals in Kansas.  Especially the squirrels...

i was driving around the neighborhood yesterday and stopped in the middle of the road as a pure white squirrel ran across.

First time ever have i seen a albino squirrel. It scurried up a tree so i couldnt get a pic but a lady out walking her dog says she sees the white squirrel on occasion as it lives in the area.

This is what happens when people release pet mice.

Most of my trips to fish are about 30 feet away. I can’t come up with much in the time allotted.

Nervous? I haven’t been nervous since I tournament fished in the 80s.

On the occasional trip away, I almost always have a friend along. So we talk about life and listen to bluegrass music on the way…

On the rare occasion I travel to fish alone. Im listening to same music and do some pondering and prayer. Now that people are always talking on bluetooth, people don’t think Im crazy anymore at stop lights…?

Y'all jinxed me. Hit a deer on the way to the lake this morning. Truck is fine. Can't say the same for the deer. Fished for 9hrs. Now I'm gonna have a snack, and watch fishing on tv. Then take a nap and dream about fishing. Tonight I'm going to go fishing AGAIN!!!

I usually listen to tunes on the way to the lake.  My drive time ranges from 15 to 50 minutes most of the time.

When possible I listen to conservative talk radio going and coming back from anywhere. I am a news junky and keep up on current events that matter.  I would not listen to anything while fishing, I'm there to fish and I enjoy it. As soon as I'm back in the truck it's news or talk radio. I don't listen to modern music on the radio but do have disks of good, older music that soothes the soul I occasionally listen too if I'm in the mood.

Dana "Lash" (Loesch) has his time slot but no one will ever replace Rush.

I can't stop thinking about fishing when I go?

On the drive to a fishing spot, I'm too fired up about going fishing to let my mind wander.

for me, it depends on a couple things:

1) if i'm alone, i'm planning my attack.  if my buddy is with me, i'm mostly wishing he'd shut up ?

2) sometimes i use the travel rod and back pack, and i take the motorcycle.  when i do that, i'm concentrating on traffic, and my line thru the next curve, watching for critters and potholes, and thanking Jesus for treating me far, far better than i deserve.

As Sheriff Ed Tom Bell said in the movie No Country For Old Men, “ Some time my mind wanders.”

Not me!

Several years ago I picked up my fishing partner to fish Casitas and we got to talking and ended up at lake Cachuma 50 miles further away.
