How many baitcast reels below 6.0:1 do you own?

For me it's at least 10. That's around 5 too many. The reason I have so many is because I like my older Alphas and Pixy reels...and a couple TD-Z reels. Thinking to change out the gears in a few. One of my Purple Alphas reels has the 7.2:1 gears in it. I prefer in the 7 range as I have no problem reeling slow.

A few years ago I picked up a Shimano Scorpion 1001 4 x 4 SVS in 6.2:1 from a guy that was getting rid of all his reels below 7.0:1. Anyone else doing the same thing?

All of my casting reels are Citica's or Curado's, of this vintage. I just like them. A few were purchased brand new back in the day...others picked up via eBay and FB market place.

I have two, both for cranking. I have a Shimano Antares 2012 and Shimano Calcutta TE 101GT. I wouldn't trade or sell these reels for the world. Both are powerhouses and will last longer than I will. They still amaze me and often times out perform some of the newer reels I have.

I've got a handful.

I have a couple Abu Garcia Revo winch and an Orra Winch that I believe are 5.4:1.

I also have a couple Shimano Calcutta 101's that I believe are 5.8crying-baby-1

Also included are various versions of older Daiwas,... Mainly TDZ and some Sol reels that I believe were 5.7:1 Their "High Speed" reels in those days were 6.3:1.

None

The lowest I have is a 6.3 and only use it if the plan for the majority of the day is to slow roll a SB which I hardly ever plan to do.

When I was entering tournaments farther north I’d only use it for cranks and never felt I needed anything else.

2 (5:1) Shimano Curados that I use for Arigs and top water.

I have a few. The ones I like the most are a Conquest and a Curado E5 both below 6:1.

I have two, a first generation Concept A and a Shimano Cardiff. They rarely see action.

None, I sold the last of my E5's. I still have a couple Citica E's that I use for the wart/crawler in the winter, I kinda regret not keeping one of the curado's though.

Just one. Zillion SV 5.5 for deep cranks

None unfortunately. You seemed to be overly burdened by an excess. I would be willing to ease that weight by taking one of those pixy's or alpha's off your hands. That's just the kind of caring selfless individual that I am.

I have a Scorpion 1001 in that same ratio. I like it. Occasionally would like to be going a little slower.

Would you really gain much in IPT swapping gears on your reels? Just curious as I don't really know. Seems like it would sort of negligible with smaller spools.

Several. Big, deep diving crankbaits and big spinnerbaits. I use a Curado E5 for the big, deep diving crankbats. The single disk drag is fine for treble hooked baits. For big spinnerbaits I like more drag washers. A first gen Revo S with a set of winch gears and a toro handle.

I have an older chrinarch sf 100 and bass pro shops that are both 5 gear ratios. I don’t use them too often but they both still work well despite being older than me.

Zero freshwater bass reels. right or wrong I am 100% in the 7:1 category. but I fish for fun only.

saltwater. two. the both of them.

The lowest I own is a 6.3:1. I keep thinking of buying something a little slower, but it's hard to justify the money.

I have a 5.8:1 Tranx 300 I use for bigger swimbaits and wakes. Although the IPT are probably more in line with a 7 speed 100 size reel so it's not apples to oranges.

I have a few, all dedicated to cranking

Engetsu 101 PG 5:8:1

Bantam PG 5:5:1

Steez Crazy Cranker 5:3:1

Curado 201 PG 5:1

Catalina 4:9:1

SLX 71 that I had 5:5:1 gears dropped in from an Engetsu bb

Over the years I found that lefty cranking reels were hard to come by so I would pick one up when I saw they were available.

None - my cranking reel is a Pflueger Supreme XT 6.3:1 - that's my slowest reel.

2 and both are on cranking rigs for crankbaits.
