I took in these 7000 C3s on trade, refurbed and sold them to a customer of mine that fishes sturgeon in the St Clair River.

He was pretty hyped and invited me along.  We spooled them with 80lb Power Pro and went and soaked bait in the St. Clair River until about midnight.  We boated 11 fish last night, the largest at 69.5".  We had a lot of fun out there and the fishing was excellent.

Yes sort of interlocking and also keyed inside passing through the threads.

I had issues with my adrena locking nut constantly coming loose. Let me know if you experience that. Sweet looking combo.

Looks nice!

How's the balance with the 30 size?

Balance right at the reel seat locking nut. Hardly any difference between the 25 and 30 maybe 1/8" but rods pretty light and also not that long, balance not a concern with either reel.

a show-and-tell photo I took to describe the salty BFS I was fishing last week.

The rod is Yamaga Blanks BCIII-82B all-range - the action is equivalent to a 4-wt fly rod;

the reel is Steez with Roro-X spool, charged with 16-lb, PE#0.8 X-braid.

The lure is Duo Spearhead Ryuki S, 3 g, 45 mm, the tiny trout trebles replaced with #6 salty plug hooks.

Still waiting on a few parts; Steez SV TW handle, PX68 star wheel, TD-Z Type R+ inductor spring, and Roro bearings.  It's going to be paired with a 5'6" 1/8-3/8 Lamiglas G1000 blank, most likely with a short grip and micro guides.

My MIL pays attention to my wish lists - little late for my B-Day gift (was Saturday) but I'm not complaining. 30 size to replace the Avocet RZT-2000 that'll go on one of my panfish/shore rods.

According to my Monkey only buying or receiving nice things on birthdays and holidays is discriminating against all the other days. There will be no discrimination in this house. Happy Late Birthday.

I picked this guy up a few months ago but just got around to taking some glamor shots.  It's an Evergreen Orion Black Rose and I bought it to use for heaver single hook moving baits in cover.  I had been using a rod of similar power but a much slower taper and was got getting great  hooksets at times with thicker jig hooks.  The Black Rose is wonderful, it feels super light and in no way seems like it can have the power it does.  It's got a fairly fast taper and casts it's range very well, a 1/4oz swimjig (~5/8oz total) loads and casts as well as a ~2oz paddle tail like the one in the picture.  With a bass on it bends a good bit, but as soon as it hits the backbone its game over.  I have even been using it for some jig fishing and it's a lot more sensitive than I thought it would be.  I had been wanting to try out some non-Megabass JDM rods and this one isn't going to be my last.

Grabbed a 2021 Shimano Calcutta Conquest 201HG and paired it with a Evergreen Kaleido Super Stallion, a great all around combo that can throw a 3/8 casting jig to a 2+ ounce glide bait.

The Calcutta Conquest is probably my favorite line of reels.  I'm a sucker for a nice round reel and feel like I'm fishing with a Rolex.  The build quality is out of this world good, and it feels so dang refined and precise.  I've been eyeballing the 100HG for a bit now, it's only a matter of time.

Sweet.  I was checking those out on Tackle Haven's site.  The whole Orion line seems to be regular tapered rods with a broad lure weight range.  Glad it turned out to be a keeper..

I highly suggest you try using the black rose for fishing a football jig. I swear this rod is almost magical for the application, well at least in my hands anyway. I sometimes wish I’d never taken a step in to the world of Evergreen lol. Had been hoping we might see some of their JDM rods stateside via The Hookup Tackle, but nothing yet
