First time for everything:

1. First ever spook (replaced trebles with Owner ST-36BC #2 and #2 Spro Power Split Rings, I think some threads said #3 but #2 seems good enough)

2. First ever poppers except for my good ol' trusted hula popper collection. Pop-r and Ima popper finesse (I have a Lobina Rico Black Beauty en-route as well)

3. First ever jerkbait. Lucky Craft Pointer 78DD Jerkbait Aurora Black

Gambler burner worms and craws came in. I may post a photo later, but let me say off the bat that there are three colors that surprised me with how good they look: cracked copper, red ear, and most of all…. Friendly fire. Friendly fire looks very different than pic on TW

Hadn't fed the bait monkey since March, and this month, put a $200 cart together at FishingShop.kiwi to get free DHL - mostly lures, and mostly salt.  General range on the salt lures - what's missing are double-ups, and 7-10-g metal jigs with profile glow.

77-mm Ima K-Ta mullet on top - in 58 mm, this lure has caught fish every time I tied it on.  Left center are Maria Blues Code current drift-twich baits - the red/gold is profile glow.

Right-center, the Eclipse Drift-Pencil 75 profile glow (sinking bait that acts like a rolling bait).  just below it, Ima Koume60 golden mullet twich bait - another that catches fish every time it's used.   Bottom, Ja-Do Graver H mullet fishes fast and slow.  All of these will fish Arroyo channel at night and tide passes in the day.

Here's what you'll like better, a nice range of finesse spinnerbaits for our clear rivers and even clearer reservoirs.

Left, Ima Zinx Mini and Pro Factory Mini Spin.

Right Evergreen Mondo Fry and Jackall Deraspin.

One nice narrow floater/diver, and a very productive finesse spoon that's candy (jade enamel on the convex, white enamel on the concave)- already had a Vanfook Twin Dancer double hook to replace the single.

Thanks. A couple years ago I used to throw the 7” Burner worm non-stop when the water is warmer. Not really sure why I got away from it.

As for the burner craw, I like the thick body in heavy cover. That bait is phenomenal in lily pads with a flipping hook. I imagine it’ll do great in any sort of heavy cover, though.

What size and type hook do you use for the 7” burner worms?

So excited to finally get my hands on the new Calcutta MD 300. Been checking Digitaka a few times every week and was shocked to finally see it in stock!

Paired it up with my Onager and it feels pretty dang sweet. Hoping to throw the combo next weekend.

Okay so it’s been a while but as I recall, I used either a 6/0 EWG or a 5/0 mustad big bite worm hook - basically an oversized offset round bend.

It’s a massive worm

Fun story. I left a snarky comment on an Instagram ad. Then the owner of the company started arguing with me, and after we kissed and made up, he offered to send me a set of the lures being advertised for free. I don't use swim baits ever. These are the first I've ever owned. But now I own three of them. Who knew that arguing with strangers on the internet could get you free stuff.

I have been fishing a lot more plastics this year. Went to Cabelas to get some new colors of Zoom Magnum Trick and regular trick worms. Of course, they had no Magnums. None at all. I am exactly between a Bass Pro Shops and a Cabelas. I hate driving to Bass Pro. It is in more city driving with construction that has been going on for the past 30 years. But the store is far superior to cabelas. Better staff. Better stock. Organized in a way that makes more sense. So I am always torn. Drive in an area I hate to go to a store I love. Or have a nice drive and go to a store I hate. I almost always regret going to Cabelas. One day I will learn. When I got home I went on to BassPro.com and checked. They had everything I wanted in stock. Ugggg.

So since they didn't have half of what I wanted I got the Yum Mighty Worms. They look good. I will try it out next week. I really like how those Owner hooks look with BIG worms. I will need to get more.

Please let us know how the magnum trick worms do for you. Shaky head wizard linked me to a video on them saying they were a great summer bait

About a month ago I got some trick worms and some magnums. I use the magnums the most. I will say I love them and I have caught a fair amount of fish with them. And I lost a monster. Some idiot locked their drag down so while fighting it the hook came out right at the wall. My sister is slow since she is disabled. I am too but I don't move that slow. Especially when someone has a whale on the line. At first, I only had green pumpkin in both thick and magnum. I now have more. I highly recommend them. I have had issues hooking up with a shaky head. So for now I just Texas rig them until I figure out what I am doing wrong. And it works great.

Because of the 4th of July sale at TW, as well

as a $20 coupon for TW, I was able to pick up a Lews lfs speed spool 8.3:1 (one of the best $100 reels in the game IMHO) paired with a 13 fishing fate black 7’-4” Heavy XF rod for just a hair over $100.

looking forward to throwing some frogs on it.
