Super User NorcalBassin Posted July 3, 2023 Super User Posted July 3, 2023 So excited to finally get my hands on the new Calcutta MD 300. Been checking Digitaka a few times every week and was shocked to finally see it in stock! Paired it up with my Onager and it feels pretty dang sweet. Hoping to throw the combo next weekend. Also couldn't pass up trying a Karashi. 20 1 Quote

Okay so it’s been a while but as I recall, I used either a 6/0 EWG or a 5/0 mustad big bite worm hook - basically an oversized offset round bend. It’s a massive worm Quote
IcatchDinks Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 Fun story. I left a snarky comment on an Instagram ad. Then the owner of the company started arguing with me, and after we kissed and made up, he offered to send me a set of the lures being advertised for free. I don't use swim baits ever. These are the first I've ever owned. But now I own three of them. Who knew that arguing with strangers on the internet could get you free stuff. 16 1 Quote

Friggs Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 I have been fishing a lot more plastics this year. Went to Cabelas to get some new colors of Zoom Magnum Trick and regular trick worms. Of course, they had no Magnums. None at all. I am exactly between a Bass Pro Shops and a Cabelas. I hate driving to Bass Pro. It is in more city driving with construction that has been going on for the past 30 years. But the store is far superior to cabelas. Better staff. Better stock. Organized in a way that makes more sense. So I am always torn. Drive in an area I hate to go to a store I love. Or have a nice drive and go to a store I hate. I almost always regret going to Cabelas. One day I will learn. When I got home I went on to BassPro.com and checked. They had everything I wanted in stock. Ugggg. So since they didn't have half of what I wanted I got the Yum Mighty Worms. They look good. I will try it out next week. I really like how those Owner hooks look with BIG worms. I will need to get more. 10 Quote

Shaky head wizard linked me to a video on them saying they were a great summer bait About a month ago I got some trick worms and some magnums. I use the magnums the most. I will say I love them and I have caught a fair amount of fish with them. And I lost a monster. Some idiot locked their drag down so while fighting it the hook came out right at the wall. My sister is slow since she is disabled. I am too but I don't move that slow. Especially when someone has a whale on the line. At first, I only had green pumpkin in both thick and magnum. I now have more. I highly recommend them. I have had issues hooking up with a shaky head. So for now I just Texas rig them until I figure out what I am doing wrong. And it works great. Quote
Smirak Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 Because of the 4th of July sale at TW, as well as a $20 coupon for TW, I was able to pick up a Lews lfs speed spool 8.3:1 (one of the best $100 reels in the game IMHO) paired with a 13 fishing fate black 7’-4” Heavy XF rod for just a hair over $100. looking forward to throwing some frogs on it. 3 Quote

WVU-SCPA Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Have high hopes for the rusty craw version of of he creature hawg. Berkley offers buy 2 get 1 free which lessens the sting of burning through them. 8 Quote
Aaron_H Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Saw this at Academy today and had to pick it up for the ultralight combo. I have a handful of ultralight lipless and squarebills already, but definitely want to try out that micro walking bait and prop bait. 10 Quote
FishTax Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 I made a little trip to academy after work yesterday. You guys convinced me I need to try spoons on these fish who don't like me, so the bait monkey won this round. Also going to try a much larger lipless (5/8) than I usually throw (3/8) to see what the fish think. If only they'd tell me... 8 Quote
Super User king fisher Posted July 12, 2023 Super User Posted July 12, 2023 My wife was going to the states, so I had to place an order for her to bring down to PV. I started off with what I thought was the bare minimum, only what I really needed in my Tackle Warehouse cart. The total was almost $600. As much as I hate to see the Bait Monkey cry, I had to whittle the cart down to a reasonable amount. It took some time and some items were taken off then put back on numerous times, but this is what I felt I could not possibly live without. Total was under $200. Package arrived in time for my wife to bring back on the plane. Mission accomplished. check out the new line dispenser packaging from Sunline. Great idea, all line should be packaged this way. 12 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted July 13, 2023 Super User Posted July 13, 2023 Got a KGB Chad Shad in colorway 021 to compare with the SPRO version. Some pretty big differences between the two just based on dimensions. The real deal is more "snack sized", cast a x1000 better, and the finish isn't really comparable immediately jump out. I threw it a bit earlier, and it swims awesome.....I can't do it yet, but it will completely 360 closer to the boat. Wish I would have known KGB was short for crack ? 11 Quote
