Just wanted to drop in and say hi to you all. I'm not as active 'round these parts anymore. Haven't bought anything in about 5 month. Haven't had the boat out in almost 5 months. Really sucks, but it'

I wanted to come down but it’s about 3:15 drive for me. Not quite worth $50 in gas just to go spend another $300 on baits and stop to eat for another $50….haha. Just hit the sales and get more crap I won’t fish haha

Well said. How far is the NH Expo in March? It's in Milford, NH.

Still 3 hours haha. I’m up about 20 minutes north of Augusta

I was at Sportsman’s Warehouse (Wilmington, NC) yesterday and they had several large bins of soft plastics marked down quite a bit. I know I saw a few different one from Rapala in the mix as well as may other big brands.

Moondog Bait Company is having a B1G1 sale on some of their soft plastics. IMHO, these are the best panfish and trout soft plastics out there.

Edge Rods has a golden ticket up on their site right now. Basically $200 gets you a code for any rod on their site. It took a few days to get the code in my email and there's also a $10 processing fee when you check out and the lead time says 3-5 weeks. That said it came out to $210 out the door for me for a brand new BWS MBR 704. Picked up a Loomis GLX MBR last year and it's one of my favorites already (and I also prefer carbon fiber handle spinning rods) so I'm really looking forward to this one and for that price I could care less if it takes them 6-10 weeks to send it to me.

I might be ordering my first Edge rod…thanks for the insight!

That is actually not a bad deal. I might have an Edge fly rod in my future.

For you swimbait/big wake guys - Cl8 Baits is having a 40% off sale on their Possum and Baby Possum. The Baby Possum is the best rat wake bait of all time. Mind you, even the Baby is not small, and the Possum is like throwing a house cat. But holy moly do they catch fish. And Clayton the owner is fantastic to deal with, absolutely fantastic.

Edge rods are awesome rods! Just beware it’s most likely going to take a while to get your rod. My nephew ordered his 7 months ago and is still waiting. He’s not upset he knew it was going to take a while to be built.

Just a reminder It’s the last day for the Dicks Sporting Goods bladed jig/Rapala Sale.

I broke down and reloaded the app to place one more order.. if Yum or other ZMan goes on sale tomorrow I’m in big big trouble.

If your Nephew has waited 7 months something is up. I’d make some calls. They never have a wait time that long. I waited near 5 months for my last three Edge rods, but was expected as it was the 50% off sale and orders were gigantic at the holidays.

I bought the Golden Ticket and now waiting on two EFX rods. Delivery is estimated at 3-5 weeks. Now approaching 4 weeks in.

Great rods worth the wait.

Depends on the rod, there were plenty of posts about Edge rods delivery delays a few pages back, there were some waiting almost a year....its a ymmv. I personally wouldnt mind the wait if they charges your card when it ships but my understanding is they charge when you order and then you have to wait. I know they are nice rods but the process ans wait it pretty lame, just my opinion.

I waited 3 months for an in-stock items (4 in stock when I ordered). Got to the point where I presented the 4 different stories I was given by staff and the fact someone who ordered the same item after I did, got theirs and miraculously mine shipped a day later. Great products no doubt but poor operations (best case).

Looks like its zoom and yamamoto, so we're all in deep trouble

New DSG B3G3 sale is for zoom and yamamoto, RIP my wallet

I read about some Forum members finding bargains at Ollies, so I decided to check out a location which recently opened near me. Only a very small area was dedicated to fishing, and it was a totally disorganized mess; but the prices were lower than I could imagine. Berkley, Yamamoto, Netbait, Zoom, Strike King, etc.. What really got to me was seeing some baits which I had on order from a well known distributor, on Ollie's shelf for less than 1/2 of what I paid, same colors too.

With the high margins on plastics, they are still making a profit.

Solid deal. I've already got a few of the babies (nothing "baby" about them lol).

From the marketing blurb in describing the reasoning behind making an offering like the 'Golden Ticket' is that they want to address their customer's most frequent concerns (faster delivery times, better order tracking, and the ability to speak to a real human), while being able to offer made in USA products. . . or something to that end. They have asked if there's any volunteers that would be willing to send them some cash up front in return for a chance to get an incredible deal on a premium rod at some point in the future so they can make the changes sooner than later.

They have sweetened the offer enough to maybe raise some capital to bust a move sooner rather than later. Or, they're going belly up in six months and throwing a Hail Mary to send themselves off into the sunset a little flusher with cash.

It's is an interesting and somewhat bold gambit, kind of like a kickstarter for a company that already exists. Interesting and bold enough for this low-tolerance-for-risk person (me) to send them $200 for a yet to be identified high quality rod.

I've already made several changes to my "team" and need to get out and use them before seeing if there are any areas I want to address.

The reasoning behind the “Golden Ticket” is to raise the upfront capital for improvement in all phases of production and HR to stave off consideration of a sell out to a conglomerate.

I don’t believe it’s a cash grab but an honest attempt to stay solvent for reasons you point out. Edge rods is really a side line for Mr. Loomis in the big picture of the blank and carbon fiber industry.
