If you listen to the chief of DNR later in the interview he said it is possible that the fish caught is a male. Contrary to all we know about the biggest of the species being female. Notice that this

I'll never understand why so many Bass fisherman don't believe the current WRs are swimming as we post on the internetz.

I've heard on here many times already how a 10lb Smallie is essentially a White Whale, let alone breaking the WR.

When was this caught? Any article along with it?

Nov. 3, 2022, of a 10-pound smallmouth bass being caught in Ontario on Lake Erie. Ross Robertson called us and confirmed his friend’s father Gregg Gallagher caught a smallmouth that was weighed officially with DNR representatives on hand at 10.15 pounds. It will surely be the new Lake Erie record. We just have the preliminary details right now and will be getting the more details, photos and the full story hopefully soon.

Congrats to Gregg and his son Grant on a truly once-in-a-lifetime memory!

That's a true Giant Brown Bass !

Pretty cool pic too.

Sort of expected to see a little blue cooler on deck in the back round.

Hope more info becomes available soon.

Makes me think the world record could fall at some point soon.

Congrats to Mr Gallagher.

It was caught by an Ohio angler fishing in Canadian waters reportedly off Peele Island in the western basin.

I've been saying for years the next record was swimming around Erie.  That's a beautiful fish.

That fish would snap the spinnerbait arm off

it could be a Goliath grouper that swam in from the sea

A DD smallmouth. Amazing. Hopefully it’s still swimming.

The great lakes are huge.

What's your biggest Erie bass?

The Great Brown Whale!

This was actually Lake Menderchuck… @A-Jay is just trying to throw you off.  It was off the southwest part of the northeast shore fishing shallow with a deep crank on a Carolina rig for walleye…

More info from Adrian College Varsity Bass Team

Grant (son)was on the Adrian College Varsity Bass Team and Grant and Gregg are both stand up guys. They fish Erie religiously. The catch is on video and there will be a lot of podcasts and videos in the coming weeks of the catch. The fish was 23.75 inches long and it’s currently being held by the ODNR for some testing amongst a whole bunch of other stuff. As of now the fish is still alive.

GREAT fish, but not close to a New World Record. The next World Record will come from

reservoirs on the Tennessee River. Several 10+ have been caught over the years, but they

don't get much publicity. To have a State Record in Tennessee or Kentucky requires a New

World Record.

You have history on your side no doubt about it Kent. But & it's a really big but, the great lakes have finally kicked out a verified 10 lb smallmouth and it has opened the doors for future records. The vast expanse of waters contained by the great lakes system dwarfs the Tennessee river system. The great lakes future looks very bright for the sight predator's like the smallmouth.
