Starting Sunday they are forecasting about a 10 day stretch of temps in the low to mid 90s. Looks like it will be a while before I get out fishing again. I don't handle extreme heat very well. I was lucky enough to go yesterday but all I caught were two little SMB and two sunfish. Guess I will reorganize some of my tackle while I am taking  a break.

Have my alarm set for 3am Monday and will likely call it quits by noon.

I haven’t been super early fishing in a while 

I'll start going at sunup. We're supposed to have a major heat wave here also. I know it's hotter than heck here right now.

Georgia has already been dealing with it and this weekend will be 99 and 98 Saturday and Sunday. I normally fish early on the weekends (0630 or so) so it doesn't affect me too much. Last weekend the bite did die down pretty quickly, though. Not just bass, but the crappie and bluegill weren't biting, either. 

Yup ~ even up here in Northern MI

the temps are forecast to be in the 90's for a few days.

But unless there's a need to shovel the 'heat',

it doesn't really get my attention.

I use to handle heat fine. As long as I had water, I was good. But now as I have gotten older, I need to be careful.  I find a good cooling shirt and a sun hat helps but more importantly, I always wet my feet and head and I keep a cold wet cooling towel wrapped around my neck. If I have to, I fish in the shade. I try to be smart about it and I try to not over exert myself. 

Heat doesn’t bother me as I am very accustomed to sweating all day. Spent the better part of yesterday on a metal roof. Bring it on, let’s catch some bass

My favorites are the Simms Solar Flex and a Patagonia Capilene Hoodie for the hottest days. I also have a few from Huk. I have one from a few years ago that was discontinued and has a built in face cover. It does a good job but is more heavy duty than the others.  

 

I have a collection of others that have gotten for birthdays and various other holidays.  It seems to be "the" gift for Dad.

Several days of warmer temps and higher dewpoints are forecasted here too, but they are also said to be bringing in potentially severe weather, as we'll be on the edge of it.  We haven't had a 90+ degree day yet this year.  Looks like that is going to end pretty soon.  I am not a fan.  We've had stunning weather here this spring, mostly 70's during the day, and 50's at night, with consistent rain, and minimal humidity.  I've barely had to run my air conditioning and haven't started the sprinklers once.  Lotta of rain forecasted here in the next week.

 

 

It's night Ops time here in Ga.. Trips between 11pm and 9am are cool and peaceful.

This thread is a testament to why night fishing is the ultimate cheat code in Bass fishing imho.    Very few Bass anglers night fish.     

We've got 90+ highs forecast from Sunday through next Friday, and high 80s otherwise.

I usually fish mornings anyway, though, often off the lake by 10, noon at the latest. 

 

Unless I'm floating a river, then it's a mid-day thing. A shady little place like this could be in the cards:

Pretty sad statement when I have to go to Florida to escape the heat in Virginia.  Leaving Wednesday.😂

Coincides with the summer solstice too, and with very light winds. I'll be at my fav lake the entire week. Never seen 95*F temps in 30+ years fishing there. Plan on fishing 5-9 both AM and PM and sleeping/drinking the rest of the time. 😄

 

I might get brave and decide to go early one day and quit early. I can fish a creek that is not too far away.

 

@Neil McCauley I have fished lakes when the water temp was 90*. I did manage to catch a few but the bite was slow when it is that hot.

My plan is to have a line in the water by 5:00 am and if I’m at the ramp pulling out at 9:00 I’ll be fine with that. Gonna try to do a couple of back to back morning.

We just had terrible storms move thru Eastern Penna. Heavy Thunderstorms with severe Wind. I knew they were coming but didn’t expect to this magnitude. All hooked up and ready to roll for the am but I’m gonna hold for Monday morning. Feeder creeks will be a mess. 

I’m fishing a new pond tomorrow. Stopped by Academy on my way home from work and bought a new Columbia PFG Solar Stream fishing hoodie. Only $37.50. It is very lightweight and 50 UPF rated. 
 

Yeah, yeah, I also appeased the BM. Some new craws and jig trailers, and a couple of jigs lol. 

It's been in the 90's here for a few days.   I'm going around 4 in the morning.  Depending on how things go I'll probably come home, go to sleep and go again around midnight tomorrow night.

I’m probably much younger than you and my wife doesn’t like it either. She always thinks I’m not coming home when I fish at night.

You guys are not alone. But you can hear some crazy crap out there at night. Fox and coyotes make some weird noises. Noise most people have never heard before.
