they have some of the worst customer service in the industry and you'll wait months for your rod. It's not a product of the pandemic. They've been like this for years.

Yup, confirm with personal experience.  They literally take your money and then ignore you for a few months.  Stay away if you know what's good for you.

Just wanted to drop in and say hi to you all. I'm not as active 'round these parts anymore. Haven't bought anything in about 5 month. Haven't had the boat out in almost 5 months. Really sucks, but it'

These rod socks are incredible for spinning rods at an insane price. They especially are nice for spinning rods that have larger guides.

Guys, refresh my memory. When does the TW 20% Black Friday sale start? It is not on Friday but the Monday afterwards, am I remembering correctly?

It usually officially starts with the banner notification the morning of BF, but sometimes it's reflected in the prices as early as the night before.

Do shimano and some of the other large name brands still get the TW discount? Ive heard you have to call or something to get them to apply it.

I hope so, but Megabass P5s are where I'm looking. I think someone will have to call or take the plunge on a purchase to see if the discount applies.

Yes they will discount it, but it won't show the discount until you get your confirmation email back from them.

X2 I endured the wait...

Mods, if this isn't fishing related please delete.

Amazon has the NOCO boost GB40 for $69 and the GB70 for $125

These have been talked about a lot on here and they are great to keep in the truck or the boat. I have the GB70 and it has been a lifesaver a couple of times.

Maybe the good luck I had will be passed on to you from a recent purchase from a musky shop. I got a new musky rod recently and no email at all from them and the web link that confirmed my purchase was supposed to update with the current status, never did. 4 business days later I was gonna call the shop and see what was up, but found  the rod was sitting on the front porch. The difference here was I know the shop is reputable, others have ordered and I had been in the store once.

Be ready to be disappointed, unless you're into hunting or their private label stuff.

I just saw the BPS Black Friday ad. It gets worse every year as far as fishing goes. One page devoted to fishing out of 28. One rod, no lures except a ned rig kit.

Sad. 4 out of the 7 items on that page are Bass Pro Brand, and that's only because they don't make fish finders (yet).

Front page has a Helix 7 SI GPS for $500 but they'll probably be out of stock immediately.

Their insulated socks are nice, and they have the raspberry gummies I like.  Other than that, and a few staples, it isn't like the old days.  I think it's a little of both: I have or have seen everything, and they carry less interesting stuff.

Every year BPS/Cabelas sales are more about their own label than anything else. I'm about to remove myself from their mail-list...only thing I've found worth buying the last couple years was the BPS Extreme Qualifier and the Cabelas Advanced Angler II tackle bags...I have one of each.

Truth is you can find deals better than 95% of Black Friday throughout the year if you are a diligent shopper or just keep an eye open. There will always be a couple of true deals to be had but for the most part it’s just used as an inventory dump. You have to be careful with electronics and refer to the serial numbers. Even brands you trust such as Sony, Samsung, etc will produce limited runs of lower quality units for BF. I still make BF orders from Tackle Warehouse, Lowe’s, and Home Depot every year though.

Ended up cancelling my order and refunding.
