Update:

Figured out it was Jenny sitting on the nest while Forest was out collecting whatever. (Favorite movie of all time is Forest Gump, so of course we named them Forest and Jenny).

 

Anyway, bait monkey convinced me I needed to run to academy this afternoon for what I don’t know because I got there and didn’t buy anything. Anyway, when I went to close the garage door, Jenny went nuts and flew into it. Finally, she flew out. Came back and nothing for hours. Then, the Bait monkey convinced me I needed something from Bass Pro after I convinced him we needed Del Taco. So, closed the garage door and Jenny just was like “oh, this again. I’m good.” Came back from Tacos and flouro leader gettin and she was still just up there hanging out. Gonna leave my garage door open as long as I can tonight.  Don’t know if Forest is a deadbeat bird-dad or not yet; this morning he was on the neighbors house yelling at me, so…

Nice. We've had Wrens nesting in our garage every Spring for 17 years. I don't know how they do it, we keep the door closed unless we're going in or out, or I'm rigging rods.

Update Day 2: 

 

Jenny was off the nest this am when I went to raise the garage door. She started flying into the ceiling, then just landed on the floor. I walked over to her and she just looked at me like “are you serious Clark?” So I snapped a photo. I know doves are not the smartest, but dang…she has hit her head so much on the ceiling that she’s bleeding now. Meanwhile, I look over at the neighbors house and there’s Forest just perched staring at me. I swear I heard him say “you better be glad. My next call was Olivia Benson and Fin Tutuola of Manhattan SVU.”

I hear ya…I’m a Mississippi State guy myself. We had our run a few years back…I wish your coach would get disgruntled with Knoxville and want to live in Starkvegas…

I visited starkvegas in college to study waterfowl management on green tree reservoirs, it was a way cooler than everyone acts like 

I am a little bias, but I love that place. 
 

Update on Forest and Jenny:

 

She laid another egg. Right beside my fishing tackle on my garage floor. So, I put that in her nest. Went and bought some sunflower seeds for her. 

I had a beautiful start to my day.

Even at work I can’t seem to keep myself out of trouble at home. The cat scared the crap out of the Mrs. by bring this up from the basement. She heard a bunch of commotion and saw the cat playing with this. 😂

 

I’m not sure how she got it, but maybe she’s trying to tell me something for my next trip out.

My parents are in Joliet, Ill at the drag races. Last night’s qualifying was shut down early due to a dust storm.

Oh - right....my brother-in-law when he was working on a new song (he's the one on the drums)

 

Little bit of rain and some sweat equity = curb appeal.

 

 

Rigging tackle for tomorrow's tournament. Most people hate this but it is one of my favoritew things to do. It's almost therapeutic.

I don’t tournament fish but I can definitely see the appeal. It’s the anticipation and planning and happy thoughts of what lies ahead. I sometimes get it just prepping before an outing of recreational fishing.

 

Nothing wrong with being prepared either.

We’re spending time at our son’s cabin in the Rockies… more to come…

That's a plate of steel I purchased from work. (My work place is a fab shop.) But it's free floating. The actual top is 2 layers of 1/2" OSB.
