fun ride and significant because that’s 7 month old hazel riding with her daddy in the red canoe. Her first boat ride!!! (She already has 2 life jackets to choose from)

Had a couple passengers on the boat today, I think they really enjoyed their ride along.

  • After a couple of years of being used to make the new movie "TOP GUN-2" this F-18 E  has just arrived @ our facility in Jacksonville Fl. for rework, fresh paint and being returned to the active fleet.

Took you this long to break it in?

(my 2001 Silverado 5.3 has 240k on it.)

Went to hook up my utility trailer earlier. I guess I'll wait until the little spotted beast moves on.

We have three of these woodpeckers flying around here. They take all of the suet my wife puts out and as you can see below, leave quite a mess. 😡

These things are huge and have a unique call. When they get to talking to each other it sounds like you’re surrounded by monkeys in the amazon.

Yes..... I'm hungry. It has cooked for 11 hours. It will Sit overnight in a cooler, wrapped in foil. Early tomorrow morning we'll pull and chop. Slaw, baked beans, hushpuppies, and beverage of choice.

Pileated Wood pecker.

They are very cool and quite abundant up here too.

May be an image of woodpecker

We built special feeders just for them.

One's they can actually fit on.

Yup!

Danielle got a book of Michigan birds from my parents quite a few years back. We both got a chuckle out of it and thought to ourselves maybe we’ll use it when we’re 70. Well, wouldn’t you know we’ve been using it lately. Last weekend Hank and I were out for a walk and a little bird flew out of a shrub we have. Sure enough there was a nest in there. I was able to identify the bird based off from its color and their eggs, thanks to the book.

Liam is calling us old and I realize I’m turning into my dad! 😁

Pileated wood peckers will ruin a tree if they desire to.

They do tend to be skittish though. So it’s not hard to scare them off.

Is there anything this man doesn't hate?

He's not wrong tho. They were almost hunted to extinction because of it.

They're still one of my favorite birds.

Edit: forgot to add my picture. A foot pedal for the shear at work that I had to rewire:

Took this trying to explain to my buddy what a FFS minnow looked like.

Felt like I was being watched while gardening this morning...

I realized I have failed to give an update on my resident dove population. At last report, our population was 2. Forest, the dad and Jenny, the mom (Forest Gump - my favorite movie). Well, I’m happy to report that sometime between Thursday evening and Friday about noon, our population DOUBLED!! We now have 4! Bud and Sissy (give me that movie reference and I’ll buy you a cup of coffee somewhere) are now

here. Mom has not been protective at all, and has been semi-ok with me getting close. Pre hatch, I was able to almost touch her. Now, she’s a little more jumpy, but doesn’t fly away. Walked out the other morning and both mom and dad were tending to the babies…

1st pic is birthday (Friday)

2nd pic is Sunday

@12poundbass You would be correct. That’s my wife’s favorite movie.

@TnRiver46 Mr Tunstall has them otherwise occupied. 😂😂

My wife was hell bent on planting some hostas around the trees. I told her the deer will destroy them in days. She didn’t believe me.

The proof is there now only 5 days after the fact. I decided not to say anything like “told ya.”
