What line and baits are you tossing on that and your 901?

I use 6 pound Sufix Siege mono and I cast everything small. like #3 Mepps Black Fury, 1/4 oz topwaters and small minnow type baits.

Orochi X10 Kirisame (JDM)

Thinking this will be my dedicated Ned Rig Rod but time will tell…. Tomorrow I will be testing it on the lake.

St Croix Black Bass 7'10" XHF. 80 lb braid and 130lb flouro leader I made on a Tranx 301b xg. Basically wanted to throw 190 whopper plopper for bass and northern pike but it's going to also be my bank musky rod.

A monster!  You could probably ski a 3lber.

I used my MH-Fast and a 130 whopper plopper earlier this year and could ski 3-4 lbers on that, but i got into a 7lb northern pike who took me into the weeds. That was actually a fight. Hoping to get into the 5-6 lb bass and 10lb northerns this week with this XH-F and the 190. Fingers crossed.

I grabbed a RCS 35mm handle and adapter to put it on my Daiwa SS 700.  What a difference it made, seriously.  That pivot mechanism in the factory handle really sapped a lot of the feel, and this RCS handle makes it more pleasurable to use.  I'm going river smallmouthin' Friday morning, and I'll be using this.

@redmeansdistortion IOS factory and Hedgehog Studio make that hex shaft adapter that Daiwa used to sell as their own aftermarket part.

https://www.hedgehog-studio.com/product/6208

It accepts Daiwa fixed handles made to thread directly into main gear (SLP Works, etc) and lets you use them on any hex-shaft reel.

On kingfish rod, this handle is 8-mm longer than the longest Shimano offers.

That's exactly what I ordered, saw you post about it in the past and it got the gears turning.  This new handle setup let me shed about 8% of the weight, down from 7.6 oz to 7 oz.

A cool pic of my main setups, imx pro SJR 901S and MBR 903c with Stradic and Curado reels.

I cannot recommend these Talon rods enough. Incredible in hand. Extremely light.

7'5" on top with the Bantam MGL

7' middle with Curado 71 MGL

7' bottom with Curado BFS

What is crazy awesome about the bfs setup is that I just stumbled upon it and could not be happier.  The rod has a stamp on it 8lb - 15lb.  None of these rods have recommended lure weights stamped on them.  The two 7' rods are identical.  I have had the bfs reel for awhile, but never had a rod for it.  Decided one day to give it a try on the Talon.  It will sling a karashi a good 30 yards, and I have fished many other tiny tiny lures and unweighted soft plastics on it too.  Its spooled with 7lb Sniper.  I cannot believe what I am able to throw on this setup.  I have some of those tiny 1" LC squarebills that are 1/16 oz and it will absolutely sling those a good 20 yards as well.

But the crazy thing is that the same rod with the Curado 71 on it I use for spinnerbaits, crankbaits, chatterbaits, etc.  The 7'5" I have been using for larger crankbaits, jigs, medium sized swimbaits, and top water.  These are very versatile rods.

1979?

New rod came today for my Daiwa SS 700, a Major Craft Finetail Glass 63L+ 2-8lb 2-14g.  The action is very lovely with a nice beefy backbone.  I'll be taking it out Friday morning.
