8 Bagley B1's and 2 Norman Speed N's.  That's it!  I've reached some sort of milestone.  Never heard of the Speed N's, but they are a direct knock off of the Speed Trap, and that color (bottom left) sold me.

Not trying to pick a scab KP Duty but the Norman Speed N has no relation to the Luhr Jensen Speed Trap.  Both are fantastic baits.

My Speed Trap is a little  longer than my Speed N, but the baits seem similar 🤷‍♀️.  Maybe not a "direct knock off", but I don't think Norman named it the 'speed n' by coincidence; I think Norman wanted to compete with the very popular Luhr Jendon Speed Trap

It's winter time...nothing is off limits.

Found and ordered an old Scorpion DC from Japan in mint condition. Paired with a new St Croix rod LT Jerkbait.

It was getting to be time to replace the cranking battery in the Pro-V Bass.

The new graphs have been making it work pretty hard.

Obviously, spending a few more months in the frozen tundra, this is not that urgent.

But a good deal is a good deal, and this one I could not pass up.

This 31M EverStart Platinum AGM Marine / Deep Cycle Battery,

was very reasonably priced.

#offseason

We'll see how it goes.

I thought I was going to get to look at another famous A-J tackle porn picture this morning.  This looks like a nice battery, but I have to admit, I was a little disappointed.

Sorry my friend.

If it makes you feel a bit better, I am currently working on 2 separate  new "baits" threads which will include at least a few pictures. So there's that.

Merry Christmas to me. Didn't need it, but I have wanted one for a good while now.

Clutch Baby Boss in "Yeesh Shad", color. Josh makes some baits that are almost too pretty to fish with, but I sure hope I get this thing all scratched up.

Lucky me.  I took advantage of the Edge sale and was lucky to get the new Epitome EXO 673 Spin in stock.  I dropped by my local family owned sporting goods store and they had Abrazix for 12.97 to 14.97 depending on test.  I’m going to grab some more. What a deal.

I finally got mine, too, right after the discussion here.

Ok, I’ll give it to her, my wife is pretty awesome.

got a pretty amazing bfs setup from her. Curado BFS XG 8.2 reel on a megabass levante rod.

what’s my best line setup? This is a new world for me. I’ve got on hand some 15lb braid, 10lb flouracarbon (sunline super fc sniper), some 50lb braid and lastly some garbage 6lb mono. Any of that work ok until I can manage to scoop up something else?

Whats the specs of the rod? Light? Medium light? Medium is above what is considered BFS.  It is a BFS reel you do not want to load anything much heavier then 8 - 10 lb line. If your going braid to leader then maybe 20 lb braid to a 10-12lb leader.  It is made to cast light lures and uses light line.

The Hook Up Tackle really came through this year. After doing the math, Box #1 had about $450-$475 in it. Box #2 has $300-$325 worth of tackle in it. All of it was $200. You really can't beat it and all the baits are good fish catchers.

I have had some issues with the rod company i have been with for years. I'll leave it at that.

I decided to make a change. 4 new JB Custom Rods.  I had bought 2 earlier this year and have had great results. Only 5 more to replace the old. :)

The Kayak Monkey got me again yesterday. It had been a while, but I finally succumbed.

This time I added a Garmin UHD2 93SV that was on sale for the third time in the past month for only $899 including the GT54 transducer.

I already have the older UHD 93SV with a GT54 and Livescope plus a Helix 7 that I use for mapping. Both of these are bolted to my Dugout Bait and Tackle Captain’s bridge.

Once my sun shade arrives next week, the plan is to replace the Helix 7 on top with the new unit and with the better resolution use that one for Livescope and use the older Garmin for side scan and maybe down scan. I’ll network them together. Before drilling more holes I need the sun shade to test the fit.

Because I drill to mount to the bridge instead of a track system, I think I can mount the Helix underneath the bridge and still use it for my Humminbird SmartStrike maps.

I was previously using a split screen on the Garmin, but it was tough to make out details with my old eyes.

I am running sunline almight sinking braid on my setup. I’m running 0.6 (I believe) PE with a 6lb fluoro leader. I like it for the most part, but when it’s time to change, I’m going with something different. The almight is pretty “fragile”.

I bought something REALLY exciting!

Ok maybe not exciting, but a no brainer purchase.

A large 20% off gift card from The Hook Up Tackle.

Most likely will get a couple of P5’s out of it.

@HawkeyeSmallie - The Hook Up Tackle will have a "Misfits" sale next week -- so you can use a 20% off gift card and layer that on to whatever other % the item is discounted -- that is my plan

(yet if you are seeking P5's they would not have an additional % off -- yet purchasing a P5 at 20% off is a really good deal !!)

No pics, but…

Haven’t seen a morning dawn J hammer in store in so long that I had to grab one at my local BPS.

  • 2 weeks later...

So nobody has bought any tackle between Dec 28 and now? I’m calling horse hockey…

Anyway, in Chattanooga with the wife for work and I went to hog farmer today. Replenished my 4.5” spunk shad stock, grabbed two 3:16 mission fish 6” swimbaits and a couple of packs of Geecrack baobab hog ex to try out.

@Smirak for a guy who swore off buying more tackle a few months ago you sure have went all in! A week into the new year and your already pushing the monkey down the road.

Repent ye heathen !!!

And NO, nothing new for me.

😆😆

Yeah, that was for 2025. I haven’t made any stupid comments like that yet for 2026!! 😂😂

My two most recent tackle purchases were a Strike King Red Eye Shad and a Strike King Pro Model Rattlin' Jig. Don't expect the rattle to be too durable, though.
